one thing i do like is sokka and zuko seemed more skilled in this than in the animated. It makes sense because zuko has been searching for the AVATAR for 3 years so ofc to him he needs to be the best of the best and sokka had to protect his tribe since a young age which is something we know he took seriously. so im glad that even tho you can see sokka has a ways to go he's not useless

I have to say with the Live Action ATLA this Zhao is actually one of things that sold me! He was a such an amazing actor and then coming to find out he knew nothing about ATLA and thought he was auditioning for James Cameron Avatar and then to come in and do such a good job like this

It's important to remember that all those people telling him he needs to be alone, ultimately failed in their quest or purpose. The Earth Kingdom became a mess, Omashu is a mess, Kuruk lost his loved one/the people say he abandoned them, and so on. So they keep trying to shoulder all the responsibility, and it doesn't work. Aang is trying something different.

Yo I landed it in an 8.5 when I finished it last week, no joke! The things that other people complain about don't really bother me, aside from the rushed moments and cheesy dialogue. It's probably as good as a live action adaptation could get of the original show tbh

I am glad you came around more, Monica. You've been much more mature about it than a lot of the internet who just want a complete exact repeat of the original and complain when they don't get it. You also liked the changes to Percy. I myself had to deal with that "bewilderment" effect with Dune Part 2 because I know the book so well, but the movies change a few things to make the plot work for a 6 hour epic. So, I get it. I get both sides of the feeling, but things are allowed to be different if it makes sense and people being mad it isn't exact and saying something is bad just for being different have some growing to do.

Fun fact: There's another languages in which they official name of the show is "Avatar: The Legend of Aang", changing the last airbender part. It's a pretty known name, so maybe that's why they made a reference to it.

I feel like this all happened really fast and especially with kioshi channeling him, he just thought he didnt have to learn any offensive bending and wouldnt have to hurt anyone himself. They could have made that more apparent though even just with 1 scene of the accidental firebend or just him stating it. Then he realizes with Kreuk that he cannot rely on that and must actually learn.

This show was an 8/10 for me writing could be better, exposition could be better I wanna see them build the characters up more and bring some more of their real personalities from the animated show but other than that I can see this live action being green lit for season 2 and possibly having ether 8, 9 or 10 episodes and possible some more free rein from the creators and the animated show and Netflix itself 😊 loved this reaction, the outfit was such and slay and I feel like this show could be promising 🎉

In the first strike against the Fire nation Navy Aang was by himself. Showing him with Sokka and Katara shows he knows already he cant do it alone. They didnt go to the spirit oasis for momo in the show they went for Aang to contact the spirits. We get the fire nation air balloon early. They didnt use them at the northern Water nation attack. Zhao throwing shots at Iroh as usual. Nice to see they kept that. No breath of fire for Zuko. Zhao knew about the spirits due to the Wan Shi Tong library. In the show he burns it here he stabs it. Oh damn the chief out here getting it I dont think we saw that. Han out here not looking like no punk either. Godzilla lives!!!!!! Iroh bbq'd his ass idk Im ok with it but I did want the spirit to get its own personal revenge.

There's a lot clunky writing and pacing here and there, but there's moments where this adaptation really shines. Things I love: Dallas and Paul as Zuko and Iroh, full stop. Zhao being a slimy little b@stard and loving it. The Aang/Zuko fight in Omashu. The added moments from episode 6 with Zuko's backstory and his extra interaction with Aang. Yue given more of a personality, even if her connection with Sokka still somehow felt rushed. The gravity given to Aang's merge with the ocean spirit. I do hope we get more seasons, because while far from perfect, when this shines, it really shines. I think they'll have a chance to make the different choices and omissions pay off in different ways, and I can only hope the writing will improve with more connection between the cast and showrunners. 7/10 for me overall. 9/10 for Masks, that episode is never not going to make me ugly cry.

I think they are waiting for Katara to become a master first So Aang can learn from her. That way she can rightfully gain the title of Sifu Katara. 😅. They put emphasis on her being her own master the same way Toph is her own master. Then Zuko becomes his own master when he has to relearn the right way to fire bend from the dragons.

The only thing I wished they did was show Katara’s passion. When she challenged Pakku she nearly broke the castle they were in because she was so passionate. So hopefully in future seasons we see more of that. But I was pleasantly surprised with this live action. And I really like the direction they are going with this Zuko interpretation.

Overall, it was stellar for me. I love that it feels more grown. A country at war is very different than a country in peace. They weren't taking it lightly, the consequences of war, of children in war and genocide. Hopefully they get to continue to finish this legend of Aang. And love the bending so far. Feels like I'm watching a Chinese Wuxia story.

Loved the adaptation, but even I have to admit... they need a better hair and beard department bc that was like the one big fail looks wise for this season. Every beard looked glued on, every wig looked like a wig. Even Paku... it's like he's megamind with a huge bald cap... I'm shocked they'd spend so much on costume and sets and then settle for that.

Kurk didnt talk to Aang until the finale. He never had a knife. zhao atleast waited until the day break. Zuko has great form. I was his actions in the training boot camp. Zhao burned it instead of stabbing it. Katara had atleast trapped Zuko in ice at that point. Godzilla King of monsters attack. I wished we had gotten that first agni kai. from zuko and zhao. Personally, the whole series is a 7.3-7.5/10 for me. Aside from the beautiful effects on bending, creatures and so on, i really liked alla the additions they made. Regarding the changes, i did not like what they did with Bumi, i did not like how they dealt with the spiritual world stories, and I didn't like how they wrote Katara (she is way too bland here). I'm sceptical about Azula, i need to see more of her cause she could have done better. And i disliked the fact Aang did not waterbender a single time in this season. I really liked Sokka, zuko and uncle iroh. Overall, this show was good, of course very far from the cartoon, but it's highly sufficient. What they really need to improve is the writing cause certain dialogues from Katara, Aang are bad, there's a writing problem here and i hope they will try to do better for season 2 (if it happens).

This 👏 is 👏 what 👏 I'm 👏 saying 👏 This version of Aang is not merely a pacifist he is scared of his abilities and it manifests in him having this procrastinating attitude to learning the other bending disciplines it really bothered me because that's not what his struggle is. His conflict is that he is fundamentally opposed to violence and he has to fight to defeat the fire lord and is expected to kill him. Making him naturally more talented as an Airbender but making him scared of it ultimately just made him come across as lazy when it came to learning water bending and then he SUDDENLY can join with the spirit of the ocean itself to waterbend for the first time? Just....NO!
