The shifting lighting mirrors the colors of the painting he gave her, the one that makes her feel everything, just like Hayes does. It's the most beautiful scene in the movie, and in any movie I've seen in a long time. Also, Hayes has gone solo at the end, and his look is one he has control over now without some record exec telling him how he has to present himself.
@johannanel11816 ай бұрын
With the age gap, it is easy to write Hayes off as a young kid that will get over her. Through his actions he is clearly emotionally more mature than the others in the band. He was always aware of Solene's protectiveness when it comes to Izzy and he even had security cameras installed at the house to protect them. It was not just Solene that sacrificed for Izzy but Hayes as well, because he loves Solene and he cares about Izzy's safety and well-being. This separation might have been a blessing in disguise as I am not sure that the relationship would have survived the turmoil. By the quiet joy in their eyes when they meet again, it is clear that their feelings have stood the test of time and their love is built on a strong foundation that does not have the frenzied urgency from earlier. My hopelessly romantic heart knows they have their happily ever after ❤❤❤

Also note that in the end scene Solene is wearing his watch. Any betting she wore it every day of the five years as a charm to bring him home?

They did a limited theatrical release after a lot of initial reviews said this should've been in theaters to begin with. I went to a screening and I have to say seeing it in a theater with other people was actually a lot of fun. Everyone was really responsive and excited during the concert scenes and especially during their first kiss. It made the viewing experience even more enjoyable.

it's very surprising that a movie like this with the most typical fanfic trope hasn't been done until now hahahaha being noticed in the middle of the crowd, having a song dedicated to you.... every fangirl dream!! this movie was super cute, i'm glad we had it with an interesting age gap twist to give it more of a depth and im also glad we waited enough to have anne hathaway as the main character for it. an instant classic for me!! also plus a cute and hot main guy and great original music agshjshss so GOOD!!!!!! thank you for this reaction, you're adorable and always so much fun to watch ❤

I really loved this movie. She in that vulnerable space of being involuntarily divorced and turning 40 and trying to figure out who she is, and he on the cusp of maturing out of the boy band and not quite seeing what lies ahead (while his band mates are still in the NOW phase of their popularity). He doesn't even realize he is searching for his soul mate until he meets her.

Being friends with creative well known people is fun. Being WITH them takes a special kind of strong.

Only just heard about the movie and watched it last week. I realised it was a book and bought the audio version. The book and movie are so different. He is 20!!!! And Izzy is a 12 year old “I love him mum I love him” Hays Stan. That heartbroken girl was Izzy when it came out. They do not meet at Coachella although there is a meet and greet with them. The ex husband is with Eva but they get married as she gets pregnant. In the book it is hinted at strongly that even though Hays is really into Solene when they seperate for him going on tours etc he sleep with other people. There is a rule that until he stops he wears a condom with her…The movie ending is great. The book ended in a way most readers were angry or devastated. The author had nothing to do with the film, but her husband did and she was not happy with the end of it. The movie is more palatable than the book.

I think what the movie didn’t make clear was that he already had made steps to leave the band and she was getting blamed for it (which is why the yoko ono comparison was being thrown out.). He already wanted to leave the band.

I thought it was a pretty decent adaptation. I really liked the majority of the changes they made. They aged both Izzy and Hayes up 3-4 years, respectively. Which I think was a smart move. In the book Solene really really focuses on their age difference... Like frequently enough that it makes it slightly creepy... Compared to other age gap romances I've read where it isnt mentioned as often. So I'm glad that the movie didn't do that lmao. But yeah if you like the movie you might genuinely like the book. They pretty much didn't adapt ANY of the sex scenes in the book which did kind of disappoint me as they were genuinely very good and I figured that they would adapt 1 or 2 or maybe 3 if lucky... But I struck out entirely none of those bitches were in the movie 😭... I've read a lot of sex scenes over my 27 years of life and these ones were genuinely really good and like... character building in a lot of ways you really understood WHY the characters liked each other by how they interact with each other during those scenes.... So yeah, I was slightly disappointed that literally NONE of those scenes got adapted. They didn't really have time in the movie to really show any of the other band members so they go more in depth with all of that information in the book and there is a little bit of drama surrounding the band members and Hayes in the book. The book also delves significantly more deeply into the topic of women's sexuality and the double standard between men aging and women aging in society... They really only lightly touched on the topic in the movie... But I think it's a REALLY important message that the book is trying to convey. And I'm kind of surprised that they didn't address it more in the movie because it is a pretty decently delved into topic in the book. And Anne Hathaway has talked about it being an important topic in interviews for this movie... And then they just didn't really address the topic lmao 🤷♀️ So yeah there's a lot that I wish was in the movie that is in the source material... But I also did genuinely like all of the changes that they made in the movie. The movie changes the ending of the book. I fucking HATED the ending of the book. It is marketed as a capital R romance book and those usually come with happy endings as a standard of the genre... The book, unfortunately, doesn't have a happy ending and so I'm really really glad that they changed that for the movie because it's one of the things that I hated the most about the book (other than Solene being creepy about their age gap 24/7 🤣)... the way it ended. But I did have fanfiction that was able to tide me over until the movie came out. There are a handful of fanfictions where it explores them meeting up again in like 10 years (a couple of other people were also very clearly unsatisfied with the ending of the book and needed that happy ending, like i do ) so I was totally fine with the movie going 5... I read the book like 2 months ago so I had to wait a little while for the movie. But yeah if you enjoyed the movie I genuinely think you would enjoy reading the book and there's a LOT of things that they had to leave out of the movie so it's definitely worth a read, IMO. The sex scenes in the movie absolutely 1,000% do NOT do justice to the ones that are in the book, IMO. Like it's not even a competition in my mind... the book wins lmao

See I started the book after watching the movie and I genuinely do not like the book so far. Maybe it’s the narrator because I was listening to it on audible because it was free. Seems like they changed everything for the movie besides their jobs/names and the romance happening. It just overall hasn’t given me that oh gosh this is romantic vibes..it’s a lot more creepy feeling. It seems to be lacking charm too. I’ll keep listening and hope it gets better though. 😬
@AnxietyRat6 ай бұрын
@@betteryourlife865 ah, I did not listen to the audiobook..so that genuinely could be the difference. 🤷♀️ In my opinion, there weren't really that many changes. The barebones I guess you could say plotline of the book is in the movie... Just tiny tiny details have changed that weren't really that significant, IMO. 🤷♀️... But yeah I can understand why someone might find it creepy. I definitely would say it's more on the side of creepy age gap than most age gap books I've read. Definitely. And it's purely because of Solenes' inner dialogue...she absolutely does get creepy sometimes. But it's really not anything worse than what I've seen within the age gap romance genre... It just depends on how much it's focused on, I guess. I do usually prefer it to be focused on less than this book focuses on it. And I mean age gap romances aren't everyone's cup of tea anyway. That's totally valid.... But yeah, this one definitely fixates on it a creepy amount. For sure. I can absolutely see that.

@@AnxietyRat I read the book after I watched the movie and honestly I did not like the book, I think Solene & Hayes' relationship was alot more toxic and volatile in the book, and it felt like their feelings for each other were driven more by lust rather than real love, Solene was also more harsh on Hayes, it's no wonder they couldn't make their relationship work. But their relationship seemed & felt less toxic and more wholesome and healthy and genuine and convincing in the movie. Watching the movie I'm more convinced that they actually do genuinely love each other, their love for each other & their relationship just feels more organic and grounded, I can believe that they will be able to make their relationship work. I think the fact that Hayes is older in the movie also helps to make the age gap less awkward & more acceptable. I do not like Solene & Hayes' relationship in the book I think it was too toxic, but I love their relationship in the movie, and of course the chemistry between Anne and Nick is great, they make me want to support the couple. I also prefer Izzy in the movie, I like that she's not a brat, she's older & more supportive of the couple. I also find both Solene & Hayes more likable in the movie, I prefer all the changes they made in the movie, for me the movie is a huge improvement from the book.

I really liked this movie but I couldn't get over how much it just seemed like a fling. I feel like they didn't even talk or anything like that, which to me pretty much sums up most big age gap relationships when the younger one is younger than 30. But it's honestly one of the better and more enjoyable fanfic adaptions so props to them.
@iamlinda1006 ай бұрын
I think you might have felt that way because the pacing of the movie was quite fast, so some parts seemed rushed and it seemed like they only had a short time together especially with all the montages, but actually they spent quite alot of time together throughout the movie. And they definitely talked, they had some healthy conversations where they really bonded on an emotional level, I did not feel like it was a "fling" at all, it was an emotional connection that they have and a strong love that they had developed for each other over time, the fact that their feelings for each other were still strong 5 years later proves that their love for each other and bond is very deep that they were willing to wait 5 years for each other. I think the movie was just abit rushed that's all. If it was just a "fling" then no way would they wait 5 years for each other, they would've moved on from each other very quickly.
@Nik-556 ай бұрын
@@iamlinda100 I agree that in their world it was more than a fling, but the movie did not do a good enough job of showing the emotional intimacy for me personally. Any intimate conversations they had, I wanted to see more of. They didn't flesh out the relationship enough, but that's just my opinion.

From an American: Coachella only looks fun in pics. The reality is all those ppl in the cute little outfits? They’re in the desert. The second the sun goes down everyone is FREEZING. It’s also know for how dirty the ground gets with ppl who are super drunk or on too many drugs to be in public throwing litter everywhere. It’s really only fun I hear if you dish out a LOT of money for extra accommodations like vip
