Eloise not knowing pens feelings isn’t really surprising. The whole reason Penelope being whistledown is bc she isnt seen or heard unless it is in her scandal sheet. Even her best friend didn’t really see her. She thought pen would be content to be a spinster not realizing with the amount of romance novels pens reads that she is a romantic at heart. Eloise is very single minded and opinionated. She can be very self absorbed & doesn’t really care about romance. Pens feelings for Colin aren’t something she would notice the same way she didn’t realize pen was whistledown. Eloise isnt big on accountability so she won’t acknowledge that what happened with Theo and the queen was in part bc she was reckless. And she won’t own that if she paid a bit more attention to her friend she would’ve seen her feelings. And honestly she is doing the same thing with Cressida bc she is cracking jokes when Cressida is terrified & desperate to marry before her parents force her into a match.

I know there are ppl who were disappointed with the sex scene HOWEVER...I do think this has been more the *realistic* full sex scene of the series. It fits their couple dynamic as friends to really talk to each other through it. And if ppl want to argue the carriage was steamier: i def get that but i also think the circumstances were crazier. Colin thought he was gonna lose her, hidden feelings were FINALLY confessed, & tbh, i know i definitely would feel more comfortable (and thus sexy) covered up. I know there can be a debate as to whether we should have realism in this show at all but I think the scene was still incredibly intimate its own way ❤

Honestly, I can’t really blame Cressida for claiming to be Lady Whistledown. She’s in a very tough spot right now and it’s either gain the Queen’s favor and get that reward money to sail off somewhere else or to marry an elderly man who will keep her under lock and key. At this point, I think she’s just trying to survive. Her father is terrible but at least her mother was trying to help her a little. She seems to care for her more than her husband.

The scene where Colin stands up to Lady Featherington is very similar to the Anthony one you mentioned, but also parallels Penelope and Colin's encounter with Cressida in the pilot, where she spills her drink on Pen and Colin refuses to dance with her. Pen turns away just like here, and Colin rejects Cressida and chooses Pen instead, even leading her away by the hand in the same way. He has a similar look in his eye, and tone of voice. Not as strong, because he was younger, and dealing with a bratty teenager instead of a grown woman, but the vibe is pretty much the same.

4:03 go back and rewatch the horse race scene of Season 2. That interaction between Eloise stepping in and taking away Pen from Colin, that is always how she completely misses the clues. She hardly paid attention to Pen when she was fixating on women’s dreams and finding Lady Whistledown.

When Colin goes to asks for Penelope’s hand after finding out she is Wistledown and the carriage scene, Portia thinks he is there to ask for Felicity’s hand. Colin gets really mad and stands up for Pen as well. I love that even though Felicity is not in the series they still made that scene happen. Alsoooo. 4:05 i think Elois never realized or noticed that her best friend had feelings for her brother all this time because she's too self-absorbed and often focuses on things she invests on. Like a perfect example is how it took her all last season to figure out Pen is Lady Whistledown-and she figured that out, because she just listens to what Penelope has to say for once and paid her actual attention for once.

@beatyz27 ай бұрын
What seems sad about people who only watch the show finding out about John and Francesca is what people who know the books find sweet. Because if you knew John died, when you were introduced to him in the show you think- oh my gosh what a sweet bonus love story that we never got to read❤. But if you're finding this love so engaging that you don't want it to end, then you're all😥 boohoo. It's really hard not wanting to know anything about a series based off books that are over 20 years old (Francesca's book literally came out in '04). Spoilers exist everywhere because they're not really spoilers, because Big Plot points have been OUT there
@hopet70907 ай бұрын
@@beatyz2 Spoilers can be hard when the series is old. So much of the books came out when we were children like you say Fran’s book came out in 04 I was maybe 9 then. But even though I know some of the plot I don’t think it totally ruins the experience of watching since the show has done stuff to change characters and make them more likeable. So it’ll still be interesting to see it play out. Cause even tho we knew the ending of King Charles watching the origin of him and charlotte was still touching. When they introduced John I thought “oh how adorable” and someone on twitter posted their ending after the first half came out.

Book Eloise literally did not care that Pen was LW. They made this drama for no reason. There was the drama about Colin finding out and the Cressida nonsense, they didn't need Eloise to be a b!tch too. And I looked it up. £5000 in the early 1800s would be around £560,000 or $700,000 today.
@taminaah71887 ай бұрын
But LW in the books and in the show it's not the same. In the books she only talks about silly gossips but in the show she actually ruined people lives and of course their reaction would be different. And I must say when I read that part in the book when Eloise was totally chill about Pen hiding for 10 years that she is LW...like that was so lazy writing and so disappointing. At least in the show their relationship is more complex.

Colin got out of a loveless marriage where he would’ve been force to raise two children that weren’t his. Pen begging Marina to not use Colin and just tell him before she published in whistledown. I copied and pasted this interview from season three showrunner (Jess) we could’ve had virgin Collin if it wasn’t for Shanda. We could’ve had our Jamie Fraser of the Bridgerton universe. wasted potential now I have to endure the shitty 💩 characterization. F Boy redemption ark everywhere I go when I’m trying to escape it through fanfiction. 👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇👇 Now I want to know if there was a Shonda note on Penelope and Colin. That creative collaboration is so sacred. I will say Shonda and I debated Colin's virginity. I was pro Colin being a virgin because it tracked with his character. In my mind, him coming back at the start of the season acting like he was this Regency F-boy was surely an act. But Shonda made a really good point, which was that if he is really trying to convince himself, he's doing it [being a womanizer]. I think some of those scenes in the brothel, for example, which I know are very controversial, when Shonda and I were talking about it, these represent him trying to lean into this toxic masculinity and trying to prove to himself that he can be just like his older brothers. As you can see in the second [brothel scene], he can't even convince himself for longer than a week or whatever that this is what he wants. I ultimately really agreed with her. She's a genius at - I mean, she often gives notes that I know are going to be controversial, but they're also going to be the thing that gets people excited about the storyline, and talking about it, and debating it. I'm glad that Shonda pushes me into a space where we're making stronger creative choices.
