the thing is, you can't even really be mad at Charlie's parents cuz Charlie is too distracted by Nick. I mean he's LITERALLY sitting next to his parents while the teacher tells them that Charlie's grades are slipping, and what is Charlie doing: he's staring at Nick😭. I kept saying "Charlie, if you want to go see Nick, THEN JUST DO YOUR SCHOOLWORK"😭But I will admit that Charlie's Mom is being kinda harsh, and i dont like that she just automatically blamed it on Nick, (it couldve been his friends for all she knows) she definitely is not Nick's biggest fan, but I also feel like this would be a normal response from a parent

Yeah, I actually think Charlie's mum's response was fairly reasonable. Even if it was a complete ban, it was just until he finished his coursework essay. Not even all his coursework across all subjects, just the essay. And he did it in like four hours in the end. Had he done it when his mum told him, he wouldn't have been grounded all the time.

In Solitaire and the comics Charlie is actually the middle child and him and Tori have a younger brother who’s 7 y.o. And love tractors. But Alice didn’t want to go looking for child actors so she decided to not include him in the show, also Issac and Imogen do not exist in the comics. Issac is a replacement for a character named Aled, but Alice said he already had his story in an other project so she wanted to bring someone new.

Season 1 was the first two books and season 2 is book 3 and a little bit of book 4. There are 4 books right now but the last two books are coming out soon! And season 3 is confirmed!! The character Isaac (the book worm) isn't in the books he was replaced with a different character who never ended up being in the show. And just a heads up.. Be ready to cry.

Ben doesn’t understand the difference between him and Nick because he cannot differentiate being closeted from being healthy. Nick is closeted but he never made Charlie feel like it was wrong for them to be together, he was never scared or disgusted to be seen together with Charlie when Nick was friend with Charlie even before they got together. Ben was the opposite, he literally pretended he didn’t knew him, more than once and treated Charlie like he was the one making problems for Ben. If Ben hand’s come out but he didn’t have so much internalized homophobia they could’ve been the same

The main differences between the books and the TV show is the TV show has added a couple of characters that weren’t in the books and expanded the roles of a couple characters who were. For example, Imogen is a character who wasn’t in the books at all, and Isaac is basically a renamed version of a character from the book. Characters, like Ben have an expanded role from what they did in the book. But, the show has been very faithful to the books.

Sorry this is a really long post, but it explains a lot about the Heartstopper series and books, and there are no spoilers!😁 The books are graphic novels (basically a fancy term for a comic) and written by Alice Oseman. She wrote these books a while ago, but is still currently working on new ones. There are at this point in time 4 books (or volumes) out. The 5th one is coming out later this year, and after that a 6th and final volume of Heartstopper will be released. Season one of the show was about books 1 & 2 (these are shorter than the others). The end of episode 3 is the end of book 1, and episodes 4-8 are book 2. And the show is almost an exact copy of the comics, but there are a few changes: - Charlie and Tori have a younger brother in the books, but he was scrapped for the show because his role is minimal. - Imogen is a new character, she doesn’t appear in the books. - Isaac isn’t in the books. He is a new character who replaced Aled, because Aled also didn’t fit into the show narratively. Season 2 is about book 3, but is not as exact of a copy of the book as season 1 was. But that is not bad at all in my opinion. So regarding the show, if it gets renewed there will probably be 3 more seasons about book 4-6 each. Aside from the main Heartstopper series, there are also a few ‘spin-offs’. I haven’t read them yet so I might be wrong, but this is what I know about them: - ‘This Winter’: a story about Charlie and Tori that takes place in the winter break during the events of volume 4. (Volume 1 starts in January, and ‘This Winter’ takes place in December of that same year). - ‘Nick & Charlie’: a story about Nick & Charlie when they’re older. I think it takes place after the events of the 6th and final volume, but 5 & 6 are not out yet, so we don’t know much about that. This story is kind off a spoiler, because it confirms they end up together somehow at the end. - ‘Solitaire’: This story focuses on Tori. It actually came out before Heartstopper did, so technically Heartstopper is the spin-off. This story takes place in January & February after ‘This Winter’, but still during volume 4 of Heartstopper. This book is more of a mystery story, but also darker and more mature. Because it focuses a lot on mental health and Tori’s struggles. Since this takes place during volume 4, I really hope they’re going to give Tori a separate arc in Season 3 that is about ‘This Winter’ & ‘Solitaire’. Anyways, this is all that I know about the books without talking about spoilers😁

heartstopper started as a webcomic series!!! but nick and charlie were originally characters in the novella “Solitaire” which has tori as the main character, and it takes place after the events of heartstopper!

Also, it's comic books, and for now, everything kinda follows them, not exactly because the comics mostly focus on Charlie and Nick, it doesn't really have other characters and storylines as much. Imogen was created solely for the series for drama, her character is not actually in the comics. There are also some little small changes to make the show more dramatic from the comics, but rather than that it follows the comics pretty well

One of the only differences I've realized is that Charlie and Tori actually have a younger brother in the books! He plays a big role for Tori as a character in her book solitaire where she's the main character :)

All I think I can say about the books for you is, Season 1 was Book 1 and 2, and Season is Book 3 and 4. Which we can assume Season 3 will be Book 5 and 6.. Also, there are some.characters swapped around or added or removed in the show, so we basically have a different version of the story but with the important and key plot points.

Fun fact: Ben is in fact bisexual, he's supposed to be a parallel to Nick, they're technically in the same situation but Nick does things right while Ben doesn't, it helps to show that if you're going a bad moment and have difficult things in your way, that doesn't mean you have/need to act like Ben or that it will be right

I can’t stand Charlie’s mom. I understand wanting him to focus on his school but she was too harsh, stereotyping Nick, blaming him and not taking into consideration AT ALL Charlie’s previous year which perfectly explains why he is distracted. He was basically in constant pain throughout the previous year and now he is slowly breathing again and being actually happy. They should’ve went like his father wanted to go about it, putting boundaries in order to have him focus on school but also have Nick, which is what makes him happy.

Hi!☺️ So I noticed a few comments discussing the comic - to - episodic formating, but just in case I thought I'd offer some insight that may help to understand it a bit better! :) [Ofc spoiler-free lol] The comic version of Heartstopper is actually ongoing and continues when Alice Oseman has the time to progress the story in between production for the show - I'm not sure how much is left to develop for the comics, but to my understanding it's around a couple more books!✨️ The season's don't quite match up evenly with the published "segments", since the flow had to be adapted for onscreen runtime (which I think really enhanced the tension and execution :)) Of course some plot points had changed and they're more like sibling entities than twins, but that makes both of them such an enjoyable and fresh experience, with lots of easter eggs to notice and fangirl about 😋 I hope this helps for both Monica Catapusan and to anyone who may be curious abt the comic vs. series, both are incredible and I highly suggest they be viewed together as a unit!✌🏼😊🍂

I think the punishment for Ben and Nick isn't the separarted room but that they'll be there more hours, since he said till the end of the day, so een if they can talk it'll be awful for how many hours more they have to spend at school

Heartstopper is actually an adaptation of a graphic novel series, there is currently four printed and published and more to come, Alice Oseman (the author) uploads chapters online before the full book in printed and published into a physical form. There is currently three other books (these aren’t graphic novels) surrounding the heartstopper universe, Nick & Charlie, This Winter and Solitaire (this one is in the pov of Tori, Charlie’s older sister, this is actually where Nick and Charlie where first introduced before heartstopper was published) these books aren’t integral reads but do provide such insight into different characters and dynamics and are overall such good works (especially solitaire) :))
