bro kept it civil absolute W, backstory and monologues were >= for me though, I didn't have use it cuz I thought it'd look nicer without it but both of those points were pretty 50/50 for me. Parallels though I standby, I do think Subaru does a good job of paralleling the strong men in Re:Zero (like Wilhelm and Reinhard, even Julius) but I think the side stories do such a great job of highlighting the parallels between Monika and each other club member- could be some bias in there though admittedly

Arc 6 makes such a significant difference? Fire edit anyways 🗿🍷. Interesting choice of effects, has a very 8-bit vibe. I really liked the faded x on my way soundtrack. The only thing i think i would change would be Monika's moniker(get it😂). Existential waifu doesnt have the powerful aura. Maybe something like the existential lady/princess/enigma or the girl in freedom's chains. Idk

Not only is MC just as much of a Doki as everyone else is and deserves to be seen as such, he's also arguably more of a tortured soul than Monika is. Monika realizes she is all alone in a world she shouldn't be in, one that's fake. She created MC (presumably alongside Ive Laster using beta elements) to help her communicate with the world she longs for. But MC? He was effectively born to be a tool. Literally, you could apply so much genuinely harmful rhetoric to MC because he really does fulfill it. He has a personality, goals, ambitions, his own level of intellect, and yet he's nothing more than a puppet. A puppet, which, mind you, has really done nothing wrong and yet can never be allowed to be happy. Pursue Monika? Even if he doesn't know it, that's >!incest!

It's interesting to see someone go to bat for him as much as you have I find it fascinating. I do disagree on some points however. Specifically under the notion that he suffered more than Monika did. From our own perspective you can make that case for sure, but he is not dissimilar to Yuri, Natsuki, or Sayori. As you stated whilst he does possess his own intelligence and sentience he is not aware of the fictitious world around him. This makes him unaware of the "what could have happened". There's not enough in game detail in the side stories to assume that he would become a NEET and die alone. Furthermore I don't understand how the !! Point makes sense? As you stated MC is alluded to be in the anime club in the side stories, important for my point to note that Monika does not have her epiphany in the side stories, I don't think Monika created MC in the base game because of this reason. Without her Epiphany she remains ignorant of the outside world and would have no reason to create MC nor could she even do so in the first place (extrapolating again from her lack of an epiphany). I do like the perspective you bring though, whilst I wouldn't personally have him on the same level of the girls it is nice to see a self insert protagonist (quite literally in this case) have a genuine personality with actual thoughts

Idk I guess it's because I feel like he's a character that got screwed over in the grand scheme of things. I think he's on the same level. Backstory for her comes in the form of DDLC+ detailing the formation of the club, tbh though I think both of their backstories aren't that amazing and is the category both struggle in the most when compared to other characters

@@CantOverDoIt oh I didn't play DDLC+, so it kinda explains, but I wouldn't call Subaru's backstory bad. I am not a writting debater, but his backstory adds lots of depth to his character. It also explains the main source of his complexes and thus we understand many of his past actions and his motives. That much I can say. Like I don't know if it is impressive, but surely is not bad.
