a few years ago I worked for some time as a service technician in a company dealing with repair and refurbishment of older laptops and computers, and the similar work you do in your videos was my daily bread. It wasn't a very happy period but now looking back I enjoy your videos immensely and relax with them. Thanks a lot for your videos and the time you devote to them. From the heart of Europe from the Czech Republic I wish you all the best Jan

Your videos gave me the knowledge and confidence to save a gaming laptop that my wife spilled soda all over the other day. Took it apart, washed the board with distilled water, let dry for 2 days, new thermal paste, reassembled, working perfectly again! 👍

Recently I made some upgrades on a 2008 Toshiba Satellite laptop, such as a little better Core 2 Duo processor, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, an SSD and a more modern WiFi card. Do you believe that laptop is working just fine with Windows 10 Lite? Yes it is 😊

Ah yes the G50, or Z50 Lenovo laptop. They always break where the hinge screws are, on the top and bottom case. We sold lots of these, because they broke all the time, and the user could not close the laptp properly. I might do a video on these too.

Nice restoration - most people would have given up all hope after seeing how filthy that laptop was. Now I always say when I list items on eBay, that it is always a good idea to clean used electronic items, but this takes cleaning to a whole new level, and rightfully so.

Well done with the restoration! I hate tech from smokers' homes, it always smells bad and has a thick brownish tar-like substance coating the air intakes and cooling fans/heat sinks. Thank you!

Hey Andrew, sometimes you need to do anti-mainstream modifications, as an example: You mod screen, from old school with modern screen and make it bezel-less. For the type of socket and cable, of course you can work around it.

Videos like these make me want to get an old laptop a family member has that is no longer functional and completely revitalize it, sadly I'm not as experienced as someone such as Andrew, but maybe someday I'll be able to do such thing.
@OldManPhil7 ай бұрын
I know this sounds really out of touch, but do it. Get hands on because that’s how you get the skills to do it. Get the oldest, junkiest, CHEAPEST, laptop and just play with it. Take it apart, put it together, if it stops working you troubleshoot and make it work again. Do that a while, play with it more, try different oses and refurbish it. When you are done and if it works you can sell it for $1-20 more. Just try on junk hardware, play and learn hands on. Watch a few tutorials and try new things. You will get it. I believe you will. Someday you might be the 23rd best technician.

Hello, I would be happy if you answer. I have an Asus k53s model lsptop with a graphics card like i5 and GT540. I use it occasionally to study.Unfortunately, when Fsket touched the area where the processor and graphics card sticker is located, the other day, Erkan, the operating system crashed and then I formatted it again, but when I gently pressed the part of my laptop with the processor and graphics card stickers with my finger, it started crashing again.The screen became streaky and the operating system crashed. I think the problem is an electrical problem. How do you suggest a solution to this issue?

I replaced battery on warranty two times. and later i changed to motherboard with an i7 and replaced the top and bottom body of it because it easily breaks(I treat my laptops well and only bring them on the desk not everywhere). After a few years with the replacement body it started cracking a little behind the screen lid hinge but it still isnt as bad on the original body. currently the battery isn't working again and if i need it i have to replace the battery a 3d time. Later went for an Older Thinkpad w530 and i don't regret it. I know there's also these models that come with mechanical harddrives and in no situations should you use a mechanical harddrive in this laptop body. it is so weak body that you can destroy the harddrive if you hold it wrong. Not the best laptop i ever owned but its better than the new ones since you can't do much when things break. If i don't want the plastic on the hinges to ever break, i have to hold both my hands along the hinges of the screenlid and use my 3d hand to open the screen every time i use it but i don't have a 3d hand so its a little difficult.

Those G50 and G40 are like bullsh*t in terms of quality. My mom had one and now it is nearly mangled to pieces. Her previous laptop (the HP 6535s) build quality is much better. Too bad the Northbridge chip on the motherboard died (it got the AMD CPU) and at that time replacing the motherboard for that HP was very costly. Some times later and I replaced the AMD motherboard with the Intel one (which is the mobo of the HP 6530s which is basically the same as 6535s apart from the motherboard) and now it is my secondary laptop.
