Monitoring smolt production of hatchery reared salmon HD 1080p

The smolts in this video are the final stocking from the River Doon hatchery, stocked as alevins in 2019. Of concern are the high percentage of these smolts with a lower jaw deformity. This is just one of the issues that can be introduced through hatcheries that normally go unseen. We are trying to establish exactly what causes this but it is certainly genetic. Despite this burn being highly enriched with a mine water discharge, this isn't thought to be related in any way to the deformities we see.
