I remember the official Monk website used to have blog posts ostensibly written by the characters. I remember Chance Singer's post said that looking at Monk gave him nightmares because "He was so…clothed. I mean this man had more buttons buttoned on his shirt than I knew existed in the world." Later, he felt sorry him and invited Monk for "some good clothes-free canoeing" but he refused. LOL. Those character blogs were great.

I love how at the end, Monk apologizes for being so bigoted, but he still can't stand to look at nudists. It's more realistic than if he totally got over his revulsion. I also love "manmade artifices" like clothes and houses and cars. They prolong life and minimize discomfort.
