Great video! Davy is awesome and again it's proof of how horribly underrated Peter was and is!

Suprising that they pulled this one out. Love seeing Davey trying "The Dance". The version with Mike on lead vocals is kind of a trip.

Nesmith played organ on the original song. Pete played lead, Mickey played drums and I think, Chip Douglas played bass.

This is so great! Yeah, the dancing is almost exactly the same as it was in Head. Davy ought to have been in more movie musicals. Come to think of it, was he ever in ANY? Also, For Pete's Sake is my favorite Monkees song and it's great to see all four of them perform it.

It's very sad that this is the only video from these 1997 shows. It's looking more and more like this will be the last time the four ever perform together, and all we have are these grainy, poor-quality vids of their only full live concerts together post-1968. I was crushed when Mike quit again in April of '97!

Got a Stephen stills vibe to it. Peter and Stephen are very close friends have been for many years.

Thanks for posting this. I always wish I had seen one of these concerts.

Peter had a most unusual singing voice when the Monkees first came together. I don't know why they didn't have him sing either lead or solo more often than they did...unless he didn't want to at the time.

I remember they played this song during the closing credits one or two seasons. I never knew what the name of it was. I think it's one of their best.

@lwallace3 Um, YES, Davy was in musicals! He was in the Broadway version of Oliver! The cast was on the Ed Sullivan Show the same night as...the Beatles first appearance...

I never liked Davy's music hall numbers or Mickey's pseudo-scatting, but the rest of their output (85% or so) I see as being fantastic. However one looks at The Monkees phenomenon, it was a creative and proficient aggregation that brought about some drop dead brilliant music.

Never knew the song was called "For Pete's Sake". I thought the title was "In This Generation"

Mickey originally sang this and Peter co-wrote it with another guy named Joseph Richards, NOT Harry Nilsson, but Harry was a genius and wrote better songs anyway.

Daddys song was awesome while For Petes Sake was a let down.
