I really & truly love those Koolaid TV commercials with Bugs Bunny & the Monkees! It sure beats the daylights out of Kiss's Gene Simmons who did that Dr. Pepper TV commercial way-way back in 2009 to say the very least!

Hey, these are great. I don't remember any of these commercials, but I had the buzzer. Must have sent away for it based on info on the packets. Didn't know about the snake in the can; if so, would definitely have gotten it because that was the running gag on Bob McAllister's Wonderama show.

This commercial marked the last time Mike worked with the group, leaving shortly afterward until the reunion tours recently.

Peter left in 1969, citing exhaustion (although we are mortally certain it was more complicated than that). Peter bought out three years of his contract at $150,000 per year (the equivalent of $1 million per year). Mike stuck it out until April 1970 but then bought out the remaining two years of his contract at the same rate as Peter. Literally the Nerf commercial was the last one Mike shot as a Monkee.

When cyclamates were removed from the market,Koll-Aid started making a pre-sweetened version with sugar.I ver liked artificial sweeteners,but still preferred adding sugar myself.

They were replaced by saccharine, (you might remember the pink packets of Sugar Twin), which was also found to cause cancer in lab rats. Saccharine was replaced by apartame ( you remember the blue packets of Nutrasweet?).

Jim He quit the band. I believe the reason was that he didn’t like the direction the band was going. The guys wanted to put out four albums, sold together, Each would do their own style of music. Didn’t happen after Peter quit. Other reasons Peter quit?
