Monkey Island Soundtrack on MT-32 HQ Audio PART 1

Growing up I always lamented not being able to select the "Roland MT-32" option in my games. Now with DOSBox and Munt, I finally "own" an MT-32 and can re-play these games with the best possible experience (from back then). 6:55 the "Melee Forest" theme the coolest by far!

Yeah, its pretty great to play the old MT-32 games with proper music. I'm curious, how close is Munt to the real Roland these days? What about the reverb implementation? The audio in this video is directly from a CM-32L

CrashHeadroom Trust me it's a CM-32L in the video. I recorded it myself. Maybe you are hearing the subtle differences between MT-32 and CM-32L. There are differences in the D/A converter circuitry, and the latter has more sound effect sounds. There might be slight differences in the regular patches also.

@frilansspion: You have to have two Roland MT-32 ROM files and drop them into the Scummvm Folder. Then choose in the Game Audio Options MT-32 Emulation, that's it!

The main issue with the MT-32 emulator is that it lacks accurate reverb support, but that is being worked on. :)

If you want to hear the MT-32 music in good quality, there is really no other way than original Roland (MT-32 / CM-32 / LAPC) sound module connected by MIDI. I don't know if you can interface that in scummvm, but you can in dosbox (thats what I did). There is supposedly an MT-32 emulator, but I couldn't get it to work, and from what I read it doesn't sound near as good as the real thing.

Scummvm (allegedly) has a good mt 32 emulator, it's accessible via the options. I've not used it for the into though.

Wait... there seem to be two "Melee Forest" themes? One around 6:55 and another around 9:33... I don't fully recognize the first variation...

Hmm, if you look at the track list for the midi file: s-island.mixnmojo.com/monkey1.php the piece at 6:55 is called "Stalking the Shopkeeper" and at 9:33 "Searching for Treasure" Where did you get the title "Melee Forest" from?

C'est sur...il y a pas photo, dé qu'on tape dans la sortie midi, le son était nettement amélioré pour les jeux, car la je vient de regarder d'autre vidéo du jeux et même sur Amiga on a encore l'impression d'une sortie hp pc, je me rappelait pas que le son était aussi dégueulasse sur les carte sonore de mon temps, mdr.
