I have so much to learn but your videos are helping. I’m watching this from my hotel room in Dublin, IE. and when you said the Belle Green color a big smile came across my face because that was the name of the B&B we stayed at in Near Sawrey! :). Our visit and stay inEngland and the Lake District was so lovely. I didn’t want to leave. I am going to do a Vlog on our whole trip but that’s still a week or so away.

Great haul! The difference between acrylics and acrylic gouache is the concentration of pigment. Acrylic gouache uses gum Arabic and a higher pigment concentration, while acrylics due to their acrylic binding cannot hold as much pigment:)

Great art haul! 😍 Just purchased some new art stuff for my birthday and I'm excited to test them! Some Turner acryl gouache (never tried these!), Talens gouache in tubes, Liquitex broad markers (new colours!), some new Stabilo woody pencils and my first luminance pencil! 😄 Super excited to test them in my big a3 moleskine sketchbook!

i find the best way to avoid accidentally buying duplicates is to have a swatch sheet with the colors name on it, I keep buying duplicates even though I Checked my color collection 😅💔 love the color choices especially the all the blues 😍

Yea that would be a good idea! I normally go through my pencils or whatever before but I always seem to buy a duplicate of something 🙈 mostly it’s something I use a lot though so it hasn’t been too bad!

The PH Martins Hydrus are liquid watercolor not ink, so they don't dry permanent, but work basically like ink.

fwiw (I'm sure you're figured this out by now) SoFlat is a matte acrylic (aka acrylic gouache) as well, it just dries a bit more evenly because it's more fluid from the start. Also if you compare cost per ml, at least in the US, SoFlat is less expensive than Holbein, but I'm sure that changes outside of the US. :)

So…wait. Are you saying that Holbein acrylagouache and so flat paints are the same?! I feel like the so flat are a lot more fluid though, but yes they feel remarkably similar to each other.

@@monkeymintaka right, they're not exactly the same, but they're the same product, different formula. Both are pigment suspended in a matte acrylic binder. The SoFlat is just Golden's version, named SoFlat and sold in pots instead of tubes because they're more fluid (and therefore sort of self-level).

@@SarahBaileyArts ahh I see. Thanks for the explanation :) I do like them, and I mixed a lot of colours from the 8 pots I got so I think I will enjoy using them. I guess if I want to paint bigger I’ll need to just use regular acrylic with matte medium as these tubs are so expensive really

i mix colours on the page or canvas all the time especially if all my palettes are dirty 😝

I mix on the page a lot normally too! I did a colour chart yesterday and used my palettes as I wanted perfect little squares but it’s much more freeing to mix on paper :)

@@afos32 ahhh yes. They can be expensive 😬 you can always start small and get 4 or 5. That’s what I did with luminance and the collection has grown over the last year :)
