How to fix the 0x8027025A took too long error on Xbox One

I remember once upon a time, you would buy a game out right and not need to download patches to make the game work. you simply put the game you wanted to play into the console, turn it on, and enjoy! THIS magical device was the 360, and other consoles. there was DLC, but THIS wasn't necessary if you just wanted to play the base game. I have the xbox1 and often find myself saying "why the he'll didn't I get a PS4?" this video us really helpful, but shouldn't be necessary. Microsoft seriously needs to fix this fucking thing, not sponsor videos on how to do a programmers fuck up fix.

I remember those times as well, It's because games have gotten to the point where they require faster mediums to load from. That's why all games need to be installed to a hard drive now as opposed to running off of a Blu-Ray disc, DVD's can spin much faster than a Blu-Ray. The same was with HD-DVD discs, but since Blu-Ray won the format war and is the standard, we're kind of stuck with it. Except for Nintendo and the Nintendo Switch, but they don't have high enough capacity to allow for many of the games and the cost of manufacturing the cards are expensive. I'll also mention, that Microsoft doesn't sponsor me in anyway to make these videos. I do them on my own time and at my own free will. I am apart of the Xbox Ambassadors though, which is a community of Xbox gamers who aim to help other gamers with either troubleshooting or general gameplay. Other than that though, I'm not affiliated currently with this channel.

@@FAM297 do it exactly this way to get to the menu and then do factory reset but keep games and apps. You will have to download your Xbox live profile again, but you keep all of your saves and important things. This worked for me. Fingers crossed it works for you as well!

I unplugged my external storage device while my Xbox was off, then turned my Xbox back on and plugged my external storage device back in and all my games that I had on that external storage device (about 25 games) were immediately uninstalled. And with my internet, it will take a good year to reinstall all of them.

Sounds like an update error, easily fixed though, run through this guide: support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/reset-console-to-factory-defaults to reset the console to factory defaults, use the option to keep your games and apps. You'll need to sign into your account again, but won't need to reinstall anything. I've had that happen to me and this fixed it.

I couldnt report problems in the Insider Hub, couldn’t load the Dashboard, couldn’t even get to settings. After a few hard resets, the silly thing managed to let me into the settings so I could factory reset but keep all my games and apps. Boom, problem solved. But....why did it happen In the first place? I didn’t do any new updates or install any new games, just turned it off. Though I usually keep it on, keep it be nearing the end of its life? TwiceTheCharm You delete the reserved space then go into the game it should work... I play some 2k too and this happens to me on multiple games. But whatever you do, when u go back in after deleting reserved space, do not press cancel when it says retrieving data for it will corrupt all your data for the game. Hope this helps

Another potential fix if you have unstable internet is to turn off your wifi/Internet connection on the xbox, so long as your game doesn't require an Internet connection to play.

As long as you're playing while connected to Xbox Live, the save data should sync back from the cloud the next time you play.

That data is stored in the cloud as I mentioned in the video, so as soon as you launch the game again your game saves will re-sync. Is it still the same error for each game? What type of internet connection do you have and are you using WiFi or Wired to connect?

Hi. I have had an Xbox 1s and I have been using it for about a month now. I have always played Infinite warfare on it, but one day it said there was an update needed. The update was downloading, but it always stopped the installation. I decided to uninstall infinite warfare and install it again. This keeps happening to me i fully reset my xbox not restart reset and it works for about a week then everything starts loading really slow until i cant do anything on it anymore

Yeah my problem seems to be the new external hdd I got is clashing with the Xbox one software after the last update so when the Xbox one console is in sleep mode too long my internal hdd even has issues with loading because of the eternal hdd and the game is installed on the internal and when I go to start a game or even signing in I get the error but when I unplugged the external everything is fine again.

Could be an issue with an update. Try to do a power cycle with nothing attached to the USB ports, ensure the HDMI cable is seated properly as well.

I have this issue. I can't even load up settings whenever I reboot, hard reset console to factory default. I still have the same issue. My controller freezes. The only thing that works is when I hold on to the xbox button on the controller and the option to turn off console or controller pops and and since the rest don't work I can't even select either of those options I get this error about a minute or two after being stuck 0x8027025a

Bummer, did you try all of the steps in the video as well? How did you reset the console to factory default and are you in the Xbox One insider program?

I know factory reset and keep games and apps is safe, but what about reserved space on certain games like Fallout 4 and Skyrim mod reserved space? Halo Wars 2 always corrupts and stops installing so I need to factory reset but don't want to lose mod, updates or DLCs.

Great question, from my understanding this is also stored in the cloud, but being 100% honest, I've never messed with Mods in Fallout 4 or Skyrim. DLC is tied to your account which owns it, so as long as you're on the account that purchased it, you won't see any issues and you shouldn't need to reinstall it (it falls into the games and apps category). You WILL need to re-sign into any accounts and re-assign home associations though. That's changed since I made this video. I'll be posting an updated video soon, but I wanted to let you know about that ahead of time as well.

Thanks :) I have good mods on Fallout 4 and Skyrim that are no longer available or would be damaged from the "paid mods" Creation Club so I haven't updated either game. I'll probably lose all clips and screenshots so I'm wondering if Halo Wars 2 is worth the risk. You probably heard about Halo Wars 2 getting corruped?

Clips and Screenshots might also be affected, I haven't tested it since the Fall Update, so I don't want to say they wont, but as a precaution, you should be able to upload them to Xbox Live or something like OneDrive, so you have a backup. I've heard about Halo Wars 2 having a bad update yeah, I've also seen some people just uninstall the game and reinstall a fresh copy from the Xbox Store (Not from Ready to Install) and that seemed to work. Is that the issue you're having?

Believe it or not, I "Uninstalled All" and went off line, Halo Wars 2 is gone, I reload my profile after hard reboot (not reset) after going online and it's back, every time I try installing it stops at 7.20GB and customer support is not helpful. Mod are in Reserved Space so no way to save them by USB or cloud. 343 and MS blaming eachother, I can't redownload from store because the Ultimate Edition is gone and I can't get refund. Thanks again and keep making good videos.
