From "Mr. Monk Stays in Bed" (Season 4, Episode 3): When a pizza deliveryman mistakenly gives Natalie $50 in extra change, Natalie decides to do a good deed. She follows him, intending to return the money, but is shocked to find his car on a deserted street, with the deliveryman beaten to death in the driver’s seat. Stottlemeyer and Disher arrive to assess the situation, but they’re soon called away to a bigger case. With the authorities distracted, Natalie feels obligated to champion the cause of the dead deliveryman. She goes to Monk for help, but he’s feeling sick, and soon finds himself stuck in bed with the flu. Natalie is now on a mission to get to the bottom of things.

Adrian Monk (Emmy®-winner Tony Shalhoub) was once a rising star with the San Francisco Police Department, legendary for using unconventional means to solve the department's most baffling cases. But after the tragic and still-unsolved murder of his wife, Trudy, the devastated Monk becomes obsessive-compulsive. His psychological disorder has caused him to develop an abnormal fear of virtually everything: germs, heights, crowds... even milk. Monk's condition costs him his job, but he's back as a police consultant despite the unique challenges he encounters in his everyday life. These challenges lead Monk to hire a personal nurse, Sharona Fleming (Bitty Schram), who is always there to offer her assistance, even with the simplest of tasks (like organizing his sock drawer). Her less-than-subtle prodding keeps the "defective detective" on track in his investigations, as well as in his efforts to convince Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine) to allow him to return to the force.

I love the way Stottlemeyer jumps on the guy and yells, "WHERE'S MONK!?" Plus, say what you will about him, but when push comes to shove, Monk will jump into the fray when someone he cares about is in danger or to get what he needs to serve justice to the criminal

I really like moments like these, when Monk overcomes his phobias and simply acts courageous and brave. It shows what a different person he may have become, had Trudy not been killed, which literally ended and pushed him back in his socialization by decades.

Sometimes they don’t even have to be his friends, that one time where one of the 11 jurors was being stabbed in the dead of night, this was before Monk knew who did it and it was a seemingly random assailant, Monk just rushed after the guy and tackled him.

Maybe it's because Julie has already lost one parent, but the fact that this man was willing to kill Natalie (even KNOWING she had a daughter) just boiled my blood. Good thing Monk was able to not only save Natalie, but also recognize the card's music But I like how Natalie describes the way Monk puts away the trash, almost like it came from a Roald Dahl book

True. SPOILER! I think a few of the bad guys in Monk did it not in a cold blooded manner such as manslaughter (in the dog episode and Monk’s middle school crush episode), hiding a corpse (wine tasting episode), sorry can’t remember any others haha But most are really really bad. I have a mixed feeling for death penalty but these guys (maybe) deserve it. A few that come in mind : the jury killing, captain’s wife shooter

Great scene, very funny with the card's music Monk hated turning out to be something he's happy to hear, but the funniest thing was the fight scene. Throwing fistfuls of loose paper noodles really puts the guy down like he's being legit punched, and 2:52 is just so hilarious to me. That's a pretty hokey kick, and the acting is so cartoonishly bad it's good.

No one beats Monk in an awkward flounder fight. Put the two of them on even ground? There's a pretty good chance he'll be on the ropes until someone else manages to turn the situation around. As Stottlemeyer pointed out, the guy’s a lawyer. Monk may have a lot of clout, but words alone without physical evidence isn’t good enough in court. What I’m curious about is why the killer was stupid enough to *not* wear gloves when he held Natalie at knife-point. She didn’t touch the knife, and fingerprints would be excellent proof.

While both care for Monk, Natalie is less patronizing and show more affections towards him. Julie is also closer to Monk than Benji was, exhibiting a father-daughter like relationship. The arc towards warmer tone made the show more relatable in some sense.
