This monochord meditation tuned to D (and lower D + A) is a musical invitation to experience in meditation Pythagoras' mathematical, musical and spiritual concept called the Music of the Spheres.
The monochord produces more overtones than most any instrument and unifies Pythagoras' astronomic, spiritual, mathematical and musical studies. His deep awareness of these fields helped him identify the music of the spheres as a common thread linking mathematics, philosophy, astronomy and the understanding of the Divine as ONE.
Pythagoras proved that the Heavens (outer space, at least) itself is constantly playing a sort of orchestral piece. This is more than metaphor: the planets themselves stack up around the sun at harmonic intervals and their orbits emit a frequency; white light breaks out into color at harmonic intervals; and the same with sound, a harmonic sequence comes out of any given note and the nodes of overtones are all governed by the same mathematics. Pythagoras was the first to articulate Harmonic Math to the west.
This sacred knowledge of the Music of the Spheres has been one of a constellation of other insights gathering before me to "link up" in meditation to the unthinkable complexity and interconnectedness in the Universe.
While listening to this monochord meditation, I invite you to now set this knowledge to the side and let it just be in the background without taking any of your present attention. Shut your eyes, breathe normally, and enjoy the other worldly sound of this monochord.
