the flint is so underrated. that 80’s verb is so good, and the fact it’s also a tremolo too makes it a really nice package.
@dirkstaudt43412 жыл бұрын
I agree 100 %. A very interesting option of the Flint (in my opinion), is to change between tremolo into reverb or reverb into tremolo (secondary function), or to use an expression pedal while playing. I like it most in front of a slightly overdriven amp. If I hit the strings hard I hear at first the overdriven tone, and when the notes fade out, the modulation and ambience comes out. And the pedal isn't overloaded with a lot of presets 🙂... perfect for my way of playing guitar.
@SpencerP962 жыл бұрын
The only issue I find with it is if you like to use harmonic tremolo which generally works better before delay but reverb generally works best after delay so you're left choosing between a rock and a hard place there if you're wanting to use both.
@dougc842 жыл бұрын
@@SpencerP96 First, I disagree that "works better" is a fact - I use it end-of-chain after delay AND reverb all the time. It depends entirely on the sound you're going for. But the real solution is to get two tremolos - one before and one after the reverb. See here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXbQXmmirbh7nKM&feature=emb_title
@SpencerP962 жыл бұрын
@@dougc84 I literally said "generally". The harmonic trem specifically gets messy but even amplitude based trem I really don't works all that well after delay, it just sounds messy unless you're running wet dry.

I run delay last anyway so flint is great for me. I prefer delay after reverb as it softens and washes out the delay lines a bit more. Sort of like the dispatch master concept.

Just my take: for the person who wants reverb a la fender amp reverb without taking the reverb effect to levels the Flint is it. The others are novel interpretations of ‘verb. Otherwise , there are no bad sounds out of the Flint.
@TheFlutecart Жыл бұрын
I'm glad I got the Nightsky. It's a trip. And it does some normal sounds too, you just have to dial it back. Each preset is really two presets that the "Morph" stomper can morph between with your foot. The morph trick is WAY cool. But it does not get you any real spring or plate sounds, more "cloud" like. The Volante has a nice spring in it so I'm saved!

The BigSky looks nice, but for not much more, I can buy an Eventide H9, which is much more versatile (and has very nice reverb, of course). The BlueSky is a nice compromise between cost, sound and capability. Some people even think that it sounds better than the BigSky, at least on the things that it can also do. The Eventide Space is also an option, but it's more expensive than even a BigSky and not much cheaper than an H9 either. Disclaimer: I own an H9 and BlueSky, so I took my own advice.

I am echoing what everyone is saying that the Flint is a superior tone machine. There is a fullness. The Bluesky is a bit digital sounding. The night sky is a tool for interesting music production and the bigsky is more for session musician pedal sort of thing.

I traded in my Night Sky for a Big Sky yesterday. I was spending more time turning knobs then I was playing. Love the Big Sky. Everything sounds musical on it. By the way, did you say to put the Flint at the end of the signal chain? I’ve been using it as my “always on” reverb. It reminds me of the bar bands of my mis-spent youth ;-)And- your Spread triad course is very helpful

I came here from your g a s video. I'm glad youtube sent me that. I have to say that having bought a timeline and blue sky last year that has helped me to quit buying more equipment. They are ok but really did not meet my expectations at all. Using them as straight pedals in front of my princeton I dont like them at all. They are much better in stereo thru my living room stereo or my 24 track, but overall I could live without them.

Hey Antoine, I bought the BigSKy the other day after we talked about features on your live session. I had the blue sky in the past and I had to let it go, but now that I have the bigsky, I wanted to enjoy the shimmer as much as I did on the bluesky, but for some reason I find the shimmer on the bluesky much more sparkly. Is there any chance you may guide me on getting a similar sound for shimmer on the BigSky?
@end273 жыл бұрын
this seems to be issue for a lot of people, including me. let me know if u find good settngs. right now all i do is turn tone knob left to get it more darker but it still sounds too bright
@AntoineMichaudGuitar3 жыл бұрын
Of course, the BlueSky allows for more precise fine-tune with the High et Low damp knobs compared to a single tone knob on the BigSky, but it never was an issue for me. I like it when my shimmers are darker!

@@end27 Hey buddy. It seems as per Antoine's response and relying on other info I found on the web and YT, it's very tricky for this to be achieved, however I found one setting that is quite close: Shift 1 = +OCT // Shift 2 = +OCT // Amount = 80% // Mode = Regen // Low End = 100% // Decay = up to you(I would recomend ~7 - 9 sec. // Pre-Delay = ~ 40% - 50% // Mix = 40% // Tone = 70% // Mod = 45%. I find this to be a very good pre-set which allows you to obtain a quite brilliant tone without compromissing your dry tone so much. Please let me know your thoughts :) BTW, I am still going to try different ones and perhaps share them here. Maybe at some point Antoine may do a video on those so everyone wanting to go deeper on this reverb type can have an idea on what are their options.
