This kit was released in 1969, and as the reviewer said around 2:14, it even had weld seams. That said, it's not a build for a rivet counter, but it still makes a fun, fast build that looks like a Panzer IV. For the 1/32:54mm toy soldier hobby, this kit is a great value.

I recently found pics of kits I built in the early to mid seventies, including the Wirbelwind, 105 Howitzer, 6x6, M8 Greyhound, etc. Brings back memories:)

I bought and built this in the late 1970s. It built up very nicely and fit perfectly. I bought it again (not the re-release, but an original unbuilt kit from the 1970s I bought from eBay) a few weeks ago and look forward to building it up again for a second time for nostalgia's sake.

Just bought this model and can't wait to start. I'm new to model tanks. Been playing alot of World of Tanks and sparked my interest in building them.

Good luck. I just begun it and the molding isn't fantastic... the color of the plastic also makes it difficult to paint correctly.

Hi Guy !! You know ..back in the day when I started to build ..Monogram was almost the premier model maker. The M-48 Patton, the APC, Quad 4 half track..Zero, ME-109, and on and on ! I built them all. Avenger, Dauntless, Monogram was tops... now ??. You have Tamyia, Dragon, Academy that have really taken moldings to a new level. I just recently built the M-48 Patton.. the hull stamped in the 60's.. had to use putty on the 2 piece hull...but a little time and putty...painting and weathering ..it turned out nice. It's nice to see you take all the positive aspects of a model and what it could be... instead of the negatives of the model. That same M-48 I built 58 years ago still turned out nice. { made it to an Isreali version).

The piece shown at 4:14 is not from the original mold, which had a screw hole for mounting a motor and gear box and also had raised plastic sockets to support battery terminals. I know because I built one of these back in 1970 when the movie Patton came out. Your hull does still have holes to accommodate the drive shaft that was to be attached to the sprocket wheels. My kit had no motor components but it would appear that Monogram initially planned to make this a motorized kit but then abandoned the idea during product development after some of the patterns and molds were already finished to support the originally planned motorization. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!

I built this kit back in the 70s, I guess right after it came out, before I was aware of the 1/35 scale options; at the time I assumed it was THE scale for armor because there were so many aircraft kits in 1/32 you were unlimited in your options for diorama ideas. It still makes more sense than 1/35 if you want to combine armor with aircraft. That decal sheet is a brilliant idea and must be new - I don't remember seeing it in the original, and trust me, I saved the leftovers for every single decal sheet I ever got, as well as the instruction sheets for every kit I ever built. I don't have the tank any more (it bit the dust in a firecracker barrage ages ago) but I'm pretty sure I still have the figures in a box somewhere. It was a fun kit to build and really lacks nothing when compared to a 1/34 scale kit. And just for the record, the difference between 1/32 and 1/35 can be VERY noticeable.

nicely done - skillful review to keep our interest. The reviews with echos and crappy music detract. Straight forward discussions work. I like armor but I'm waiting to see you build one of those tall ships we all like - however don't feel rushed - I know they are time consuming, buy damn, you have some new and great ideas on paint and construction. Carry on.

Thanks, I've got at least three ship builds on here, and more coming. Academy's Bounty, Revell Pirate Ship and Lindberg's MayFlower.

Thanks for the review. When the kit was first released it was molded in tan plastic. I'm surprised Monogram didn't re-pop this kit in tan.

Been wanting to get into tank modeling for awhile now, I have some experience with miniature assembly and painting. I've looking around for Panzer IV G or H as first model to try to give it a paint scheme from a show I've watched. Now hoping our Hobby Lobby has one in stock... Then got to find out what color the actually paint job is.

I just finished this same kit video under my name camo and all weathering has been completed by hand except black raddle can primer and Tamiya dark yellow raddle can .

I had one of these kits back in 1974 along with the half track with the quad anti aircraft guns. Man I wish they would re-pop that half track kit. On ebay those kits are really up there in price.

Are you talking about the Monogram half track I linked to below? It's going for $19 on Tower Hobbies, was re-released not too long ago. www.revell.com/model-kits/military/85-0034.html#.VHprUtLF-So

***** Wow! that one slipped by me. Thanks for the link:)

Monogram (Revell?) probably modified the original patterns (plugged the screw hole and sanded down the battery terminal supports but left the sprocket wheel holes) and then made new molds from these, which were then used to make the parts in the kit you are showing in this video. I'll bet that's what they did.

Hay , I saw that you never made a video on paint and or building the model and I just want to know how the fitting was

I am having an issue with part 7 and 4 not pressing together as shown in step 1. And it says no glue!! So I am dead in the water

Do you know any way to get replacement tracks for that kit, 1:32 are really hard to find tracks for.
@hpiguy5 жыл бұрын
1/35 should be close enough, but I don't know. I doubt these cheaper older kits have a large aftermarket following.

Do I need to primer the model ?

I got this beastie for Christmas and I am waiting for a set of tools. Thank you for posting this informative review. I only opened the box and looked at the bits, they still are in the bags yet. :D May I ask if you've built her yet and what are your thoughts about it?
@hpiguy8 жыл бұрын
+Don Pfoutz Not yet, keep looking at it but then something else catches my eye.
