Nice video! I am looking at getting a K40, probably Omtech.. They seem to have better support. Both Monport and Omtech sell a K40+ now.. Several upgrades including an adjustable laser head for different z heights and built in air assist. I intend to upgrade it very soon after I get it. Larger work area, rotary, ect.. Maybe even upgrading it to a 60w tube.. But that is further down the road.. You earned a new subscriber when you said church/youth pastor.. 😊

Thanks so much for the support! I hope your Omtech is working great, and if you run into any issues be sure to reach out!

Awesome comparison. Have you considered doing the 12x24" bed mod? That would make a great video too.

I’ve looked into it and honestly, with having the xtool, the hassle doesn’t seem worth it for me personally. If I had enough interest on the channel, or if I got a second CO2 laser to use for clear acrylic still, I might consider doing it. Thanks for the awesome comment!

the k40 even with all upgrades cant reach the cost of the diode laser

While that’s true, the K40 has a ton more maintenance required and is also a much smaller machine that needs tweaking to achieve what the xTool 40W does. For people who want to do that tweaking, it works. For people who don’t, the K40 is a hobby machine that requires too much upkeep

@@CreatedWorkshop dont know man. you can replace hobby grade tubes and mirrors for cheap these days. a 40w diode costs still a fortune. i started a diy machine and i went the co2 way cause if i mess things up i can always replace a tube or a lens

A lot of people don’t mind tinkering, but a lot of people don’t want to have to worry about that. In the end though, someone spending $2,000+ should get a 60W CO2, not a K40. Now, the new K40 Pro is a totally different machine than what I have in this video. Better mirrors, Z table, air assist, etc.
