I am guilty of making ASSumptions about BTS which caused me to miss out on listening to great music and supporting the growth of seven extremely talented kind young men. Fortunately for me, I opened my mind and ears. Mic Drop reeled me in and I am still on the hook. You mentioned your son’s MJ bobble head collection. I have collected BTS IDOL DOLLS. I have all of the CD’s because the downloads were not enough. I still have a CD player in my SUV. You and I grew up during the same times. KRS 1, Ms. Melody, Eric B Rakim etc. So you know my age. J-Hope, Suga, RM’s mixtapes are great. I can’t wait for Taehyung’s (V) mixtape. His singularity (RM) wrote and Stigma had a sista SHOOK, R&B-I’ll step out on a limb and say baby making music.

this song never gets old , and thats cool and sad at the same time , cool because it talks about an issue that anyone can relate in his era and sad because said issue isnt fixed, and that is in every corner of the world , want to do something? well working hard is just not enough , you need money loads of money , even if you work hard as hell witouth it you arent going long , sadly thats how it is in these days.

I think BTS is a little diff with how hard they work to make sure their performance is perfect. You can see how upset they are when they mess up, its not their CEO pressuring them its them. They came from the bottom n they want to uphold their worth by keeping it the level they expect it to be at. I think some producer just published a book and mentioned BTS only had 3 songs ro something and usually its 4 hours to practice before showing on air, but they had wanted to practice 7 hours PRIOR to the day of and then 7 hours the day of or something. Look it up but man, they got respect. They arent like kanye who show up for 3 seconds and cancel a show. they show the fans and supporters the same amount of respect by performing well.

I don't think anyone mentioned this (DKDKTV alluded to it), but another aspect to the message of this song is also to the kpop/music industry, itself, which has companies that monopolized the industry and made it extremely difficult for "nugu groups" (groups from small companies with very little to no influence, like BTS at the time), to get even a foot in the industry. It's one of the reasons why BTS made their own content to promote themselves with yt and sns rather than relying on the usual routes of marketing via tv variety shows and other promotional programs (they did use them but most of their content comes from themselves). Plus, a lot of ppl use the excuse that the reason why an idol isn't popular is bc of the idol not trying hard enough or that it's the idol's fault, rather than acknowledging there being unfair treatment in the industry (for example, other ex-idols/trainees have spoken out on how they often weren't given basic respect by other agencies in the industry bc they didn't come from a big group and that treatment even costed them airtime).

This may be my favorite song. As a baby boomer who got “left behind” because as a woman I was paid less then male counter parts I can relate. Which gives me empathy for others left behind for all the reasons American life can be unjust. I could wax political but this is not the forum. This song is universal - hip thrusts and all. 😈

I watch Asian boss blog and it’s about Asian culture. In Korea it’s so expensive to live , I would say compared to NY and SFO, the young have to break their backs to live comfortably. Many are passing up marriage and having kids. Too expensive. This song as usual from BTS bring up society issues .

Oh, Monq. 😂 You tried to avoid saying "back in my day," yet you did it anyway. You see boomer headlines like that everyday, too. Millennials are still renting or staying home with their parents, millennials are putting the diamond industry out of business, etc. etc. The so-called gig economy was borne exactly out of this necessity. These stupid feel-good stories of people having to work 263 jobs is a symptom of this sickness. It has never been about the lack of entrepreneurial spirit or NOOORYUK. That's what the song is saying - just bc things might be more convenient and you can move faster now, doesn't mean the finish line wasn't moved farther away by the older generation.

Amazing as usual!!! I think every generation has harder times on different aspects. Although we always think others have it easier, this is a human nature. However what is most important is not if we have it easier or harder. The important thing is that if we find it unfair we fight for our rights. That's how you can always relate to BTS music. Regardless the unfair issue, the message is clear: fight for your rights and that is universal of every country, culture or generation. So proud of them!!

It’s called capitalism, the system that few who suffer under are informed enough to call out because they are even more misinformed about socialism. Talent like BTS or pro athletes or Olympians etc should be rewarded, and capitalists like Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates and Elon Musk may have good innovative ideas (developed sometimes at taxpayers expense), but their extreme stork status is because of financial and political leveraging and refusing to share with their crow-tit employees. There may be songs that critique the suffering, but few demand change to the system in which many social determinants of health are affected. Let’s start with eliminating poverty and mental stress.

Hello Monq, Love your videos and your hip hop history lessons and break downs but, in personal opinion as a mother of 6 in my mid 40's it really isn't easier for the younger generations nowadays no matter what they can accomplish on social media. And I say this because a whole family of even 3 or 4 needs to have a really good source of income just to as you said "make do" so I do agree with dkdktv that it is actually the baby boomers act of buying or getting more for future investments and family assets made it harder for the future generations to get/buy things as their parents did during to the rise in real estate prices or even the economy itself so s not even conducive to a proper living..now the middle income earners are the new poor people and the poor people are pretty much out of luck even more 😢 Just my opinion..but again still love your videos and your love for the boys 💜💜💜💜💜 Saranghae
