Please comment only stuff you understand something about - if there is any... :/ I have seen worse "beauties" put before Gene than here. Vivien sure had impressive eyes but generally no match for Gene, I would rank her 4-5, Liz was a real beauty but half a dozen Hollywood women beat her easily, I would put her in top ten, but closer to ten than five. Not quite. What Hedy Lamarr's invention and patent was for a means to automatically change radio frequency while transmitting and for a receiver capable of following the change so that a message can be broken up into segments transmitted over several frequencies such that it cannot be intercepted in its entirety except by a receiver that is synchronized to the frequency changes. In it's most broadest terms it influenced WifFi and BluRay, but such ideas were used in many telecommunications where the data stream is broken up into several packets and transmitted even over different routes and this is one of the capabilities of the Internet at the lowest layer of its architecture, and also other non-Internet communications architecture such as SNA. If you want to read what Hedy Lamarr's invention is all about, it is still a register patent which is available online at patents.google.com/patent/US2292387

@@youngsteph1 I think the answer can be summarized in one word. Feminism. The feminist movement redirected a little girl's desire to be desirable to men when she got older to desiring to dominate and control men. Back in the day, there were only two sexes each with clearly defined roles. Today, there are dozens of genders with the focus being on "me", "I", and "my". It was extremely important for a little girl to marry a man when she got older so she not only tried to look desirable (to men) but she also spoke with a sexy tone of voice. Today, sexy is being a bitch, bossing men around, and for some covering their bodies with tattoos and piercings. In short, the feminist movement is an extremely selfish movement which isn't very sexy.

Most of today's ROLES (for women) lack it. ~ You know, so many of these comments offer unfavorable comparisons to women of today, but we are not the ones controlling this situation. It is Incredibly frustrating. But when women speak out or demand more power, we are maligned as unfeminine- yet treated as shrews, hysterics, strident and shrill (ironically for anyone "unfeminine," as these are insults typically reserved for females. See also: Nag; Wet-blanket.) It all makes me feel very sad and disheartened: it's as though a chance is being missed. People are maligning feminism without knowing what it really is; they are choosing not to listen because they think they know what it is we have to say. The lost Dignity referred to in nearly every thread relating to this video IS missed; it is respect we all need. Everyone benefits when women have greater autonomy.

There are none today that I would watch a movie just because they are in it, but tell me Sophia Loren is in one and I'm there. Ava Gardner, Hedy Lamar, and Rita Hayworth are about equal in my opinion. 3. Loretta Young and Vivienne Leigh who I think were more cute than beautiful but better actresses. 2. Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Cardinale. I think they are more attractive because they have a natural, earthy, more realistic style. I might also include Grace Kelly. 1. Gene Tierney. My personal Top Three would be 1. Hedy Lamarr, 2. Rita Hayworth 3. Liz Taylor. I miss watching old movies! The values, the fashion, smoking and boozing... Thanx for the video, btw!

I’m not sure Mr. Wilde liked women very much. He was quite gay and went to prison for it. Being a gay man was a crime back then. We might take his views of women with a grain of salt.

My mother’s favorite actress was Ingrid Bergman; and my father’s was Jean Harlow. He always liked the platinum blondes of that era. These actresses were not only very talented but gorgeous as well. The elegance shown in those movies made Hollywood the golden age for sure. It cannot be repeated again, it was a unique era of talent, beauty, elegance and classy. Thank God for those movies with can be seen again and again without getting tired or bored. Love the video, it is beautiful ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️🙏🙏🙏

@@domenicv7962 Ingrid Bergman is definitely in my top five, she looked like an angel and she certainly contends for my top choice, though because of her competition I'd have to think about it.

Watching this made me happy and sad at the same time. All these people are old or dead now. Our Time here is si limited, we shouldn't waste our Time.

All beauties! Sure, there are more but, my goodness, they were something!!!! What Joy! If any one of these ladies grabs hold of your heart (Gene Tierney for me) celebrate even just for a moment.

A pretty good list, I agree with about 80-85% of the names here (although I'd list them differently). I'd replace the few actresses I didn't recognize with Susan Hayward, Myrna Loy, Anne Baxter and Joan Fontaine though.

Came here after the news of olivia de havilland. She was one of the actresses from the golden age that lived for a century, so sad losing another one of these queens😭 Nevertheless, their grace and beauty never ceases.
