Monster Hunter 2 scares me

Monster Hunter Tri was the first game in the series I ever played, but recently a fan full translation was done for Monster Hunter 2 that I just had to try since the game has some uniqueness thats never come back (seasons for example)
However not only is it a huge learning curve trying to use the right analog stick for attacks, THE SMALL MONSTERS ARE TERRIFYING

Just leaving this comment here to clarify, the main reason I was having trouble is cause I was not prepared for stick combat at all. I started with MHTri and games afterwards that all had button controls. I could not wrap my head around the analog stick having gotten so use to button combat. And also note im not wearing armor in the video which makes the damage far worse. xD (This is also actually the first time I ever used sword and shield.)

MH2 plus is a mod that gives you the classic button controls with analog camera control. I played through the entire single player up to Lunastra before I learned about it and while that was an interesting experience, I wouldn't ever go back to it.

@@RoaxesChao Yes, it does! Also be sure to use the most up to date translation, not Burango (not sure which you're using at the time of this video). Newest translation is much better and all dialogue is translated. There's a version of MH2 Plus to go with it

When small monster were an actual threat and not just annoying. But in all honesty, this is actually really cool imo. The feeling of starting real fights with small monsters to eventually taking down the large ones doesn't feel right when they all die in less than 10 seconds in practically every game after Dos.

It was unbelievably hard to get use to the PS2 controls, I just wouldn't stop opening up chatbox trying to press a button to swing. xD This probably wouldn't be so embarrassing if I wasn't just in shock trying to use analog stick to attack.

It shocked me when i first played MHW by how easy i could slay small monsters (and some large ones, especially great jagras even though i didn't used guardian gears). But MHW is much more cinematic than old ones, the immersiveness makes the gameplay so satisfying and that's the same reason why i don't like rise. I know it's good, but i'll stick with world until MH wild releases.

There's a patch dor the game, that remaps the button layout. Makes you control your camera with the right analog stick among other things.

You're right,the control makes these games hard. Not only they are somewhat clunky ( not that kinda clunky, i mean for example if you press run button, even if you release it you still running for a bit), Mhfu were notoriously famous for its difficulty but, the game itself is rather easy when you use a proper gamepad, anything feels smoother and much more comfortable unlike the original psp controller which is nightmare. Its small and the claw technique hurt your hands, its especially so for gunners. I imagine mh2 or the og mh isnt that much different from mhfu but with even worse controls, once you tweak it and use proper gamepad, the difficulty itself would be shaven by a half. For example, i played mhfrontier which is based from mh2 and the base game is rather easy, but i dont think i can complete the game with the classic setting when i have to use right analog to attack.

I will say in at least MH3 and up I think most large monsters are easier then world and rise just for their lack of tracking and whatnot (with some exceptions) But MH2 and down I can definitely see the difficulty spike. xD

Sns shouldve its own super armor no? In gen 4, if you use dash slash (draw attack) it grants you super armor to ignore low wind pressure and minor attacks, i know in gen 3 or 2 sns dash slash (draw attack) is kinda different and started with jump animation, but i wonder if it has the same super armor? Use that!

@@lambchop58 mh2 is gen 2 right? How is it gen 1? Anyway, they dont have super armor? In mhfu ds have their usual super armor in demon mode so minor attacks like ceanataur swipe doesn't flinch them, same as GS. Sns should hve one too. I said super armor as part of the moveset, not armor skill.

It's for sure very different from Freedom Unite and titles after. xD Though I'm mostly use to the series from Tri and up. If I wasn't already in shock from having to use analog stick for combat (and with a weapon im unfamiliar with cause I couldn't get the others yet) I was definitely in shock by how aggressive the small monsters are. Never expected to need to heal from a fight with one. xD But I also forgot to actually get armor since you usually start with some in later games.

I love maps in old MH games...Now I'm playing MH World, game is amazing, but wtf are these maps? Aquarium, rotten aquarium wtf xd I need mountains, rivers, hills, forest... And this beach/jungle (I don't remember the name) map is my favorite from MHFU
