Made this video a while back, figured I might as well make it public in case anyone gets anything from it.
I didn't add much about shelling, so here goes: Shelling sucks. It has fixed damage which is mediocre and sucks up sharpness, and the best use is to chain combos. Normal always has 5 shells per clip and laughable damage, Long is always 3 shells and low damage, and Spread is 2 shells and decent damage. Spread 1 does the same damage as Normal 5, to put it in context. Shelling does a fixed Fire damage amount too, so anything weak to Fire is obviously slightly better to shell on. Wyvern Fire does the same damage as four shells from your gunlance. So, Spread 3-5 WF is OK to use if you have a big opening, but otherwise it's not worth using past High rank.
