Small correction, (Glacial) Agnaktor does not exist in Frontier (this also means that a HC variant does not exist either). The render probably comes from Explore.

I love the format. Only suggestion maybe to mention folklore inspirations more. We know every Rise newbie and Odo are inspired by Jp folklore, Sunbreak has Golem/Frankenstein's monster, werewolf, vamp and a devil, while Shara is Buddhism inspired and it'd be nice to have like a line or two about that in next vids
@yikes69698 күн бұрын
Shara is inspired by Hinduism
@grapesoda70757 күн бұрын
@@yikes6969it’s both. Mostly Hinduism but also references to Buddhism, which makes sense as Buddhism overlaps a lot with Hinduism, because it was founded by a Hindu prince who believed in a way to escape reincarnation and achieve nirvana through enlightenment.

I don't know how intentional it is, but Duramboros' Japanese name "Doboruberuku" could also be derived as "double Berg." Berg in this case being the German word for Mountain. So his name could also be refering to the two humps on his back. Whether intended or not, it does give his name even more depth in my opinion, which is kinda neat.

There are a lot of Japanese exclusive Monster Hunter books which contain lore, monster ecology, etc. I think if you have an opportunity to make a video on information in these types of Japanese only books, it would make for an awesome series. Sprinkle in your own knowledge as well. Great video!

Learning about the Japanese naming conventions for Subspecies and Variants was interesting. Unfortunately the way they are named in Japanese makes it fairly unlikely we will get subspecies names for the base species of monsters, or at least within the games. An example of these subspecies names for base species, would be giving base Lagiacrus the subspecies name of Sapphire Lagiacrus or giving base Nargacuga the subspecies name of Common Nargacuga. Personally it also adds to the world building and makes the world feel more real. Though I feel they could give the base species and non base species subspecies names in Japanese and non Japanese languages out of game. Personally it would be nice, as it offers a way to refer to base species that is less clunky then "base species BLANK" and many other benefits.

Great video, can't wait to hear about my favorite fanged wyverns! As for the feedback, I think it would've been nice to add a text or a logo of the first game where a monster appears (in addition to you saying it). And more general feedback - I think you're in a very interesting position, when you have a lot of exposure to the source material in Japanese, and to the MH scene in Japan. I enjoy listening when you talk about either of these things, as it's uncommon to find this kind of stuff in the English-speaking community and from other content creators. I hope you'll leverage this position more and make videos about MH in Japan.
