There's a formula usually with monster themes in these games with monsters that has multiple phases: Phase 1 - The monster is kicking your ass. This theme is usually oppressive and intimidating. Phase 2 - There's a struggle back and forth between the hunter and the monster. It's all about survival and fighting within an inch of your life. Phase 3 - The hunter is pushing back, thus the theme will sound more heroic but it will keep reminding you that the threat is still alive and well.

The composer for these tracks is Takatsugu Wakabayashi, he took over Hideyuki Fukasawa after certain update for this game. This is an MMO btw. But yeah they both never really worked on the normal mainline game (Except Fukasawa making 2 or 3 tracks for an older game) so Frontier music sounds very different.

I'm not sure who composed Frontiers tracks tbh, but they did make really good stuff for having a smaller team and limited equipment compared to the main MH team.

The medley is specifically composed by Takatsugu Wakabayashi, he worked on most of MHFZ from G7 up to ZZ with Eruzerion

"This is surely the last thing you hear before certain death." Well, he IS one of the only monsters I've seen that has a move where he just straight up eats you for a guaranteed one hit kill, so that's certainly on the mark.

Frontier’s so, so very underappreciated in terms of its BGM. It uses a *lot* of synths and traditional instruments, especially taking inspiration from cultures across all of Asia. Personally, I think MHF really gets what makes MH music so distinctive- it’s all about the driving phrases keeping you in the gameplay.

I have to admit, among all the MH games, Frontier probably has the best bangers.

The voice you were hearing was someone performing Mongolian Throat Singing. If you've played Ghost of Tsushima, you'd hear it near Mongol outposts sometimes

If you want a shorter one that's amazing, try Unknown's (Ra Ro, aka Black Flying Wyvern), second phase especially is just a banger.

Laviente (or Raviente) is the largest monster in the series at an insane 45000cm (1476.37ft), a threat so large you need a minimum of 24 players to even attempt to hunt it. Like most things in Frontier it's not considered canon to the current games though. Can't wait for you to check out Guanzorumu, Inagami, Odibatorasu and so much more!

Laviente/Raviente is a siege fight where there are multiple phases(I lean like 6 or more, I keep on forgetting the exact number), can't remember the exact number, and the volcano you fight it in gets more active the more phases you are in.

Frontier has some of the most hype songs hidden on its extensive OSTs. But it's not always about the hype songs, I prefer the normal Raviente music if I'm being honest. In general, when it comes to a Monster Hunter OST, no matter who is composing it, any time there is a theme directly for a single monster, it helps to envision it as a song made by the people of the world in reverence of these monsters. Like telling a tale of a beast's legend and greatness to be appeased but also of the heroes who triumphed over it or drove it off with the myth serving as a warning to future generations. Some of the monsters have a very real disdain for humans and wyverians (basically Monster Hunter elves) due to the lore of the old empires disrespecting nature but most are just animals that humans depend on hunting them as their livelihood and must respect their conservation, or forces of nature that need to be driven off or killed but will not and should not be wiped out. I feel a very strong sense of animism in the mood of monster themes in these games, even when the genre does not literally include aspects of tribal or choir themes.

The 'G' in Frontier means genuine in Japan, and also potentially the 'G-rank' in the games. The G2, G3, etc reference the expansions during Frontier, with the last one being 'Z' for Zenith, which means something at its most powerful.

"The post music sections will be like 2 minutes" xD I haven't seen every monster Hunter Video but I think this order of events is great, Monster Hunter Games usually start slow, gather mushrooms or something, fight small fry, fight First Boss that is still small fry. There is a lot of grind involved and getting to the point of fighting someone like Laviente is a huge journey Going from whatever to epic fits the games very well Or another note, I really have been enjoying the monster hunter videos. I know that music had always played a huge role on why I like the games, but usually there is so much going on in the game that I can't fully appreciate it and having it on the channel is a cool way to re-explore those moments Anyways, glad you liked it Have a great day Edit: It seems I have confused Laviente with another monster but oh well, I guess my point still stands

This Monster Hunter never came to the west. It was a mmo that ran for over a decade and got shut down in 2019. Glad to see it show up here. I was expecting to see Mizu's theme or Nah! The Honor is Ours! Thanks to the person who suggested this.

Good intensity, very dramatic. Nice melody on the strings, the flute is a nice addition. There's this rattling sound that makes this sound a bit tribal, this sounds more dire when the tempo seems like it went faster. 5:01 sounds like you are being chased, I really like the string progression at 6:22. This medley knows how to create anxiety with these songs, I'm pretty sure the "someone" Jesse was hearing was a throat singer which was a very nice surprise. This was pretty cool but it didn't really grab me, like with most orchestral based stuff it would be more of a live thing then a whenever I want. I do like it but not something I'd go out of my way to search online for.

9:40 I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure that’s just a medieval tuned recorder. You hear that sound style a LOT in the og Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles soundtrack which uses a lot of pre classical instruments like crumhorn and hurdy gurdy.

the monster hunter frontier soundtrack is so good, I love it so much, but it's very overlooked because almost no western fans have played it. it was a japan only MMO that you couldn't play without like a japanese IP address or whatever, and it's since shut down, although private servers have been made. due to this, as well as due to a lot of exaggeration, misinformation and certain information being left out, the game's very much gained a reputation in the fanbase for being this super over the top game with super overdesigned monsters, leaving a lot of fans uninterested in the game and its monsters. and while that's definitely a part of it, there's also a lot of the game that's a lot more normal, and just very cool unique and creative. and it's a shame that a lot of fans just aren't willing to look at that side of it. anyway, it'd be great if you got given more frontier music, it's really really good.

Thank you for showing off this game. Fucking love this. Big Frontier fan. I honestly think that Frontier has the best OST of the whole Monster Hunter series and its not hard to see why. For anyone reading this I recommend listening to Garuba Daora theme and Odibatorasu theme. Actual god bangers. L for the music video saying its Laviente and not Raviente. (I hate Ravi with a passion tho eventhough his theme slaps)

Mh being my fav video games, i'm always stress to see it there, thinking that maybe he won't like it. So glad thet it wasn't the case here. ( maybe it is because he started with rise and world, where i personnally think that the musics are "smoother", and a bit less memorable. I like orchestra, but sometimes it's a bit too much orchestral. not sure if i'm clear )
