Monster Hunter Frontier Playthrough: Dyuragaua vs Hammer

HR2 quest so nothing too crazy yet. Not a speedrun or anything, just started a playthrough and might upload some fights. Still using the starter armor and a weapon that was very easy to make. Forgive my many mistakes, I used items at bad times and missed a lot of attacks 😂

Happy to see people getting into Frontier. If you end up getting stuck at later HR, HR 5 and 6 in specific, getting Evasion +1/2 helps a lot and becomes almost a must. Hammers move set i don't believe gets any counters with it's styles so the hit and run tactics will i imagine stay the same. I see you also use Switch Axe which is probably the strongest weapon in Frontier, though you unlock it at G rank. I don't ever play hammer so no real tips to give, i honestly have almost never seen a hammer user in my 1-2 months of playing frontier

Kind of an interesting fight, especially for (presumably) such an old monster. Some of the ideas definitely entered the main series later on (like the ice armor that seems to improve the arm hitzones and the fact that it lashes out a lot and then recovers for a long period). This thing easily could've been in Rise or even GU. Unfortunately Barioth kinda holds its niche hostage because this thing looks way more fun to fight than Barioth lol. Also the hunter art thing you did a few times is funny, it reminds me of the strong valor stance hammer attack in GU, only a lot slower lol.

Yeah I like this guy. He feels like a nice tutorial monster, pretty slow and easy with fairly telegraphed attacks. But mess up and get too greedy with your attacks or heal at a bad time like I did lol and he can sure punish you. The hammer baseball swing is so funny, I try to use it whenever I can lol. It’s so satisfying to land but can definitely get you wrecked cause it takes forever!

Interesting how MHF doesn't show the KO VFX when the monster is already down. That's something that was never done in mainline series, in order to show players that KO does not build up anymore when a monster is already affected by it.

It’s honestly pretty fun so far, a surprising amount of quality of life stuff too (auto gathering, can buy ores/honey/other stuff, etc). I thought the game would feel tedious to play but it’s not bad at all. I’m not sure if they will ever remake/remaster the older games though, considering how well the newer games like World and Rise have been selling but we can hope

props for using the actual worst weapon in the game, so bad the devs give you a bone hammer with red sharpness to unsubtly steer you away from using it

Lmao!! Is it actually the worst? Its pretty fun at least for the early monsters. I like Switch Axe too which seems a lot better for endgame, may end up switching to that for some fights
