For Bujabujabu, buy the deco so you have attack L. For Valor, you want to start the sheath animation then during it go into a charge attack, that will massively fill the gauge when you land that attack. The sheath is good for survivability and the followup attacks you can do during that dash that occurs when it triggers (GS is ridiculous when you do it in Valor mode). Aerial is fun as hell (mostly with Switch Axe), but Adept I think would make you better at the base weapons while learning the monsters and getting something unique from the game.

Except Ariel is cheese. It doesn't matter that he's still in low rank it works the same in high and g rank. You can mount spam and all ariel attack have mind's eyes, you "can" hunt at full red sharpness with ariel attacks. (And if you play IG you lose zero moves and get a better pogo.)

@@FerrumAnulum correct, but you won’t get deatomized mid air by every monster in low rank. High and G, monster AI gets better and they unlock new moves and are overall better equipped to completely deny you your aerial superiority.

I too love Malfestio. However, I hate the fight lol. But I hate most fights, which makes me love the game ironically.

Some tips for valor style: 1. You can hold the valor sheathe indefinitely until you run out of stamina 2. You can attack out of the valor sheathe animation and this builds up your meter faster. 3. Certain moves can only be performed through valor sheathe until you are in valor mode. 4. You will get new moves or abilities in valor mode I hope you try out Valor GS again in the future with these in mind because it really is one of the most fun weapon/style combos in the game.

Correction for point number 3: Multi-hitting moves will hit you still. Example is Hellblade Glavenus's explosive sword slam (I learnt that the hard way)

I never thought maintaining armor sets would be too big a challenge. Sure, there are margins you can gain by focusing on a build for a single weapon, but there are also very generic "melee" and "ranged" sets you can make that can carry you 90% of the way to that power. A few decorations can maybe even eek you a bit closer. But, keeping weapons up to date? That was always going to be an issue. I loved the meownster hunter cannon. Simple, quick, little bit of skill, and you got an easy way to get goods. Don't overthink it--just try to match colors and probably focus on trying to land on monsters. As you become more comfortable, the goal becomes trying to make sure you overlap as many areas as you can. And a little later, you can get maps with hidden zones: purposely bounce your first cat over as much area as possible to hopefully find out where it is, then try to land everyone on it.

Some advice for weapon/styles combinations: Adept and/or Valor are usually very solid options for most weapons, they offer powerful and safe playstyles with their main drawback being a single slot for hunter arts. This is not a big deal at the beginning of the game since you still don’t have that many good options for hunter arts. Some recommended weapons for these styles are Greatsword, Longsword, Dual Blades, Hammer, Gunlance and all gunner weapons. Once you start unlocking and upgrading arts, Striker becomes quite strong for some weapons, offering 3 art slots. On the flipside it also removes some of the "advanced" moves, so it feels like a more simplified version of the weapon (similar to Gen 3 games). Some good weapons with Striker style are Sword and Shield, Lance, Switch Axe and Charge Blade Guild is the old reliable and balanced style that works fine for everything. Aerial is not "cheese mode", believe me. You might be having an easier time with it now since you are still not familiared with some weapon's movesets, but you will soon realize it doesn’t offer that much except extra mounting potential, which is good for multiplayer but not really worth it for solo hunts. The main exception is Insect Glaive as it gets great mobility. Dual Blades and Switch Axe are also decent since their vault animation is also an attack itself. And Alchemy is more of a support-type style tailored towards multiplayer hunts. It’s not bad on its own but is hard to get into as it has a whole bunch of unique mechanics, and combat-wise is generally considered an inferior version of Striker. That being said, it can actually be quite fun with some options like Sword and Shield or Hammer. With all that said, these would be my style recommendations for each weapon: -Greatsword: Valor, Adept -Longsword: Valor, Striker -Sword&Shield: Striker, Alchemy -Dual Blades: Adept, Valor (Striker and Aerial are also decent) -Hammer: Adept, Valor, Guild -Hunting Horn: Guild, Valor, Adept -Lance: Striker, Adept -Gunlance: Adept, Valor -Switch Axe: Striker, Valor (Alchemy and Aerial are also decent) -Charge Blade: Striker, Valor -Insect Glaive: Aerial, Guild -Light Bowgun: Adept -Heavy Bowgun: Valor, Adept -Bow: Valor, Adept

For the Lance, a good set up for Striker style is to have Absolute Readiness and Absolute Evasion both. Since it lacks the advancing guard move. For GunLance, try Valor style! After filling the gauge it gives you a Quick Full Reload that also has a Guard Point that goes straight to a Slam and Full Burst. So it'll go: Any Move > Guard Point Reload (ZR + A) > Slam > Full Burst > Guard Point Reload >... It goes through sharpness real quick but OH BOY is it fun to see the explosions!

6:10 for valor style you can also press X while holding the sheathe to do a valor normal attack which greatly boosts your bar

Great pledge and great streams so far (following them here on KZbin). I'd put a warning on the fact that if you use weapons you're unfamiliar in multiplayer, you won't learn a thing from those quests. Lance for example needs you to fight a monster face to face in solo, getting all the aggro to learn properly how to counter. Aerial can be your "cheat out" if there's a quest you don't wanna tackle with a specific weapon, but as you said, it won't teach you much in the ways of the omni-hunter

The grind is real! Just wait until he realizes the Insect Glaive and Kinsect grind in this game! He will need to have at least two bugs to raise. On top of the grind for armor!

O bother. I'm just ending my low rank journey trying out most weapons. And my heart is going for IG. If you have any tips for that grind or a good player i should check, lmk! I'm going to have a pocket HH, Lance, HBG(adept!) and as always, LS.

@@m.willems7030 Take time on gathering quests. Or if you feel like you have time on a hunt. To go fishing! Ancient fish are especially important. Also, gather often in the Jurassic Frontier. Or any other map that has bug jelly! These will be important for working on the Kinsect!

@@justthere845 oh god! I don’t miss that. It was way more complicated. On top of the fact that the Kinsect was tied to the Glaive. So each new weapon had a clean slate bug. That you had to work on!

Aerial is not easy mode. You just spam it way too much. Hell, Adept is considered easy mode for this game because you can freely dodge and then instantly turn back and hit the monster

if you would like some lance inspiration, I'm learning Lance while I struggle through G-Rank. i def recommend Striker Lance. Learning to abuse the lances amazing Shield moves and your counter attack makes it a ton of fun. besides beam attacks you can tank most attacks, so it becomes a game of well timed tanking through heavy attacks and immediately going on the counter offense while the monster is in animation cooldown.

1:42 yeah that's something a lot of multiweapon users experience. it's a lot of maintenance to keep all you weapons up to day. btw I know 2 armour sets that can last you from low rank to mid/late high rank that are general use for every melee weapon. when I replayed mhgen I used those two until hr7. it made it easy in the sense that I only had to worry about maintaining all my weapons and not have to worry about armour. you should ask the community or find out some general armour sets so that you only need to worry about keeping your weapons up to standard.

Cool journey. Personally, the way Im getting into every single weapon is 1. Their appearances. Some of these designs for other weapons are cooler than my main. 2. I play alot of Arena Quests with preset armors to practice my weak points and get comfortable with breaking limits. In World, I completed them all, but in Rise, I've done about 600 Arena Quests so far.

I know you probably won’t agree but I think you should play one weapon until you get to g rank that way you can focus on that and armor and worry about leaning weapons more the closer you get to blood bath

MHGU didn't introduce many completely original monster species but between Great Maccao, Malfestio, the Fated Four and _[redacted - final bosses]_ they knocked EVERY ONE OF THEM out of the park. My personal recommendation for Charge Blade hunts is Adept style, because nothing of value is lost. You do need the Adept Guard to access red shield mode, but ... again, nothing "of value" gets lost.

I really wouldn't call Aerial Style "easy mode". Spamming the Airial Attacks usually doesn't give you anywhere near as much DPS as the Ground Combo's will. And with the mount treshold getting higher and higher, it's also not like the monster will be on the ground permanently. I'd honestly say it's not even much easier than Adept. But I do agree that it'll probably impact your ability to learn the weapons for the worse, so I still think the final decision makes sense.

Be warned a lot of people are going to recommend striker lance because it has the one good move, but imo its a very difficult moveset to get into with lance. I'd recommend either aerial or adept to get started with if you're not feeling striker

Honestly GenU is balanced in a way that you don’t need a set for every weapon. Probably weakness exploit + raw. That’s two sets per rank. Maybe 2 more for end game

I feel like the only aerial style that doesn't feel like a cheesy joke is Aerial Insect Glaive because it actually enhances the weapon in an interesting way (very reminiscent of what it became in World and Rise actually). A lot of the other weapons (especially Greatsword, Switch Axe and Gunlance) feel like strange onetrick ponies. Is it fun for a bit to spam fullbursts every second? Yeah. Does it feel particularly well-designed or engaging beyond that? Absolutely not. But it demolishes low rank. I honestly think that cycling pledge was a very good idea. The BuJaBuJaBu set will ensure you have an at least somewhat fitting set for EVERYTHING, which is kind of rare in these older MH games, so GU was probably the best game to do it in after maybe Rise (where crafting in general is a lot less ressource intensive). I had started a new MHGU file right as the first journal dropped (by sheer chance) and I've been addicted to Alchemy and Valor Gunlance, so I'm kinda neglecting a lot of content (again. Before, I only played Prowler)

Aerial might feel cheesy, but to be real most style combos are just as good. You'll see the difficulty jump further in high rank and especially g rank. You're getting there on the other styles, it'll just take figuring out what you need to do control wise and timing. BU JA BU JA BU.

.............. Jay Aerial isnt cheese in fact you only get I-frames the exact moment you jump off of something. The Cheese is either Adept which acts as a free Evade Lvl 2 without needing to build for it (more I-frames then normal) and Valor which basically makes you immune to damage when you get good with it. Chat told you as much in all counts but you got stuck in your head that "They are hard to use" (they are not at all) once monsters get aggressive and start punishing Aerial mark my words there will be a Jpurnal being like "Aerial is in fact NOT cheese because I keep dying"

using the chees will only hurt you in the end it does not help you it just push the problem later down the line when the game is harder and you have les room for mistake and you switch weapons faster as a result so do not do that
