Oh using fast travel to skip fanfare is neat, I've always just hovered in the air with the wire bug instead to skip it.

That used to be the strat until it was discovered that the fast travel skips part of the stamp animation. On stream if Bagel messed up the fast travel he would try to get a Wirebug active to do the backup.

fast travel has a WAY tighter window though, camp or hanging is much more consistent if you can't mentally count down the exact timing.

MonHun at GDQ is a dream!! As much as I love glitches, there's a very large part of me that loves a simple run. The runner still needs technical mastery, especially here with monster AI and weapon movements, but I still get to enjoy large chunks of the game. Great run!

I had no idea you could smoothly link Soaring Wyver Blade into an attack like that. I've always cancelled the recovery with a roll and then used Switch Charger from there. I learned something! I honestly didn't even expect this would be a Switch Axe run.

So in the speedrunning community for single hunts SA is super popular. Mainly because it's easy. Speedruners want to essentially stunlock the monster and they know the thresholds for lockdowns and zsd is consistent to do that.

Would love to figure out how to have Monster Hunter World run on GDQ and have that featured with like 4 hunters (since if I recall correctly, story progress is carried between anyone participating, so you can have a team of Four rush the game together). Otherwise, if Rise got onto the schedule, it would be nice to see if World can happen too.

Is fast traveling before the quest finishes faster than wirebugging and suspending yourself in the air? Because that's what I do and it skips the animation too.

Yes it's faster. Both skip the default animation, the fast travel skip saves more time but has a smaller window to pull it off so they'll use the wire but hang as a backup strat if they miss the fast travel strat.

the runner said it saves about 2~4 secs. If you time it right it can skip the "mission clear" animation at the end of mission

Yes, by about 2 seconds! The Quest Complete "stamp" animation speeds up if you're fast travelling as it starts.
