So nice to see this game get a speedrun! wish I had that cutscene skip myself. Hope the next MH game takes all the best parts from world and rise. PS: The runner did a great job improvising. Chasing monsters is half the fun!

This was a really entertaining and informative run. I've put easily over a thousand hours into the series and while I've known about Arena ILs and I've seen a little bit of tech for individual hunts I never really considered that full game runs would be possible. I just assumed the RNG would make it hell. But with scripting and the defender weapons it ends up being a consistent execution focused run. So much so that I may just look into more runs and maybe I'll consider trying a run or two in the future. Again I need to shout out the runner and commentator for how easy to follow everything was. I'm a MH tri player at heart so in world and rise I didn't explore much of the wirebug and clutch claw stuff cuz change is scary. But even that stuff was fairly easy to understand in this run.

1:44 Just to be clear, when he says "On the game's release, there were unskippable cutscenes.". Yes, they are still unskippable, unless you use a mod. Yes even the end credits are unskippable. The game doesn't respect your time at all.

This was amazing. In spite of everything going wrong, Jal kept his cool and was able to recover! A real testament to his skill as a player that he's able to improvise when the monsters go off-script. The flawless execution of some of the scripts is fascinating, but his ability to ad-lib is just impressive.

Good luck with the Fatalis run. Considering the gear rng sounding like it would be the biggest time gain/loss, I wonder if it would be ideal to use something with fixed damage. In other words, Gunlance shelling. Combined with a few fast Greatest Jagras runs to quickly get Artillery decorations to avoid having to get any specific armor. Plus lightbreak gunlance for a relatively easy access to a wide 7 shelling "endgame" weapon.

I sort of casually Speedrun individual monster fights in mhw iceborne. And one of the things that is the most annoying that you figure out real quick. Is that sometimes the monsters just dont feel like cooperating. You can bait out certain moves from monsters by being certain distances from them, and sometimes they will just give you the move you want back to back, and other times they just absolutely refuse to do what you want. Fatalis is a perfect example of this. He has a long conal fire breath attack that is a perfect window of opportunity to get in good damage. You can bait him into doing it by being somewhat of a medium distance from his front. I swear sometimes he will do every move he has but that one. Then I have had runs he just does it like 3 times in a row. Runs get made or break based off his move rng.

He literally failed a capture and had to redo an entire hunt, wasting a ton of time and resources. He went over his initial estimate because of that. If that seems "tool assisted" you need to re-examine how TAS runs work.
