Monster Hunter Rise HR6 Zinogre Long Sword Solo

People were requesting I try the HR6 version after my last video. I finally reached end game and got some decent gear (though not fully optimal) so decided to run it. Had to resort to capturing as I'm not good enough for a single area kill without it yet and those pesky Bullfangos make the quest really annoying to run if you get that spawn. I also lost about 10 seconds due to Zinogre jumping back just as I placed the trap. Didn't use the helpers either.

Yeah and in general it jumped back a few crucial times during this run but oh well, I will eventually do a far better run. Both tactics and gear can be improved a bit.

They can get a bit bigger too, my gear wasn't even optimal here and I didn't apply all the right buffs.

LOL thanks. I swear that was not on purpose. I just wanted a decent time preferably sub 4. I just saw your attempt after doing this run (I didn't want to watch it prior to see how our tactics differed). You seemed to have prioritized the head more and spent more time repositioning towards it I just straight up went for more helm breakers on the legs if that's all I could get. I also did 3 wall slams into a helm breaker combo (I think more wall slams means it's downed for longer). MH is so interesting, on the same matchup we both ended up playing a bit different while getting basically the same time. Although if you had captured a bit earlier like you could have, you would have easily beaten this time. Actually I will probably do this again at some point and go for sub 3 next time preferably.

@@theartoflongsword2622 That is a great point and normally I'd agree. It's something I started thinking about in the demo, whether ANY wall bangs are actually worth it for LS given how good DPS Iai counter -> helm breaker is on its own. But for Zinogre I think it's debatable because it doesn't give a ton of clean openings to land all hits of the Iai counter + all hits of the helm breaker on the head...or I'm just not good enough to do that consistently yet. So a bunch of free damage on the head into helm breaker feels nice.

Nice stuff, getting a sub 5 for HR quests in this game takes some work, capture or no. And lol, I hate that spawn point so much. A ton of my demo Magno attempts got butchered by the bullfango in that zone aggroing him before I could prep for his roar.

Yes it is, but on rise i notice the cat sometimes tells you when the prey is ripe for capture (even before the blue icon shows up). Rewind the video and you will see it. Idk about other MH games tho 😂

How good do you think elemental LS are in this game? I see Peppo from TDS primarily uses elemental LS for most of his speedruns

Good question. I believe in some matchups elemental LS are definitely optimal to use. Against Zinogre, I do think the Ice LS with the right set is much better, but I don't have it yet lol so I just went with raw for now.

I never faced the IB version but I heard from some that did that this version they prefer. I guess perhaps because its closer to the original? Not sure.
