Theory: Shrine Ruins is probably in the same mountain range as Misty Peaks but on a lower altitude. The lower parts of Misty Peaks feature bamboo trees instead of the cherry trees of the upper areas. (Example the felyne area os mostly all bamboo) So probably in the area cherry trees grow at higer altitude that bamboos and Shrine Ruins is completally covered in bamboo. This would also give a cool implication for Almudron, since it's description says it usually lived high in the mountains but moved at lower altitude because of the Rampage. By considering Misty Peaks higer in the mountains than Shrine Ruins, it would imply that Almudron were originally monsters endemic of Misty Peaks (wich would also make semse considering how watery and swampy the map is).
@ChronoPinoyX3 жыл бұрын
The Almurdon's ecological shift is similar to Zinogre in essence since both monsters have been influenced by a greater being to move to lower areas where they originally lived on mountainous regions. If Shrine Ruins is not directly next to Misty Peaks, then it would be at least extremely close to it as Zinogre can be seen in both locales.
@yurei44143 жыл бұрын
@@ChronoPinoyX I wouldn't say that Misty Peaks and Shrine Ruins have to be close because of Zinogre (that might still be a clue but not definitive) since Zinogres are also found in the Heaven's Mount and Coral Higlands (and Guiding lands by extension), so probably there are other Zinogre population all over the world, but the one living in the Sacred Pinnacle (the one that moved to Misty Peaks after the arrival of Amatsu) is just the first one that got discovered.
@greathannah40353 жыл бұрын
@@yurei4414 yeah but for example the main “herbivore” of the Misty Peaks and the Shrine Ruins are Gargwa, and since Gargwa are native to the Misty Peaks is certain to say that both Yukumo and Kamura might be in the same continent, my theory is that the big lake area where there is an abandoned boat and a destroyed dock on the Misty Peaks lead to the Shrine Ruins and probably the connection is the big lake that’s to the right in area 1 from the Shrine Ruins, it is funny to speculate but so far those are my beliefs

Shrine Ruins was once a nest of Elder Dragons who were once worshipped as gods. However, they did not tolerate humans entering their territory, hence why they could not call the forest home. That is, until Ibushi and Narwa made it their nest as well. The Elder Dragons fled the forest and, once Ibushi and Narwa had completed their courtship ritual, departed as well. With the forest devoid of Elder Dragons, it became safe for human habitation. They erected shrines as a way of worshipping the dragons and the effects they had on the ecosystem. Over time, humans became too used to the absence of the dragons and stopped taking the threat they posed seriously. Then, one day, the courtship of Ibushi and Narwa began once more and Narwa had chosen a nearby spot as her new nest. As Ibushi wanted to make sure that nothing would disturb them, he attacked the settlement to drive away any living creature in the vicinity. The people fled for their lives and founded a new settlement (either Kamura or whatever village preceded Kamura) as monsters began to appear in the abandoned forest and made the decaying ruins their nests. What we know for certain is that the Rampage is the result of monsters fleeing from Ibushi and Narwa as they perform their courtship every few decades. We also know that some cultures revered the Elder Dragons as gods of nature before their biology could be properly researched.

That makes the most sense, though I wonder how big of a nest both Narwa and Ibushi needed if they can make wyverns from 5 different regions flee

Amazing lore video! I really enjoy MH maps with past human civilization ruins, just like The Tower, Shrine Ruins and the Flooded Forest, I even like to think the Shrine Ruins and Kamari Village are in the same continent as Yukumo Village and the Misty Peaks, seems that way since hey share almost the exact same flora and specially the fauna, with Yukumo nurturing Kamura with materials after the Rampage destroyed the village
@ChronoPinoyX3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the support! And yes, Kamura and Yukumo share a number of similar creatures, if they're not directly neighbours, they can at least be considered in a similar region of the Old World!

spoilers for mh rise it seems like ibushi and narwa want to destroy life and the land to create a "paradise" for thier offspring, perhaps they're connected to this god? or perhaps they ARE these gods, they talk about ibushi and narwa creating storms (one being wind one being thunder, so thunderstorm) so it might not be that far off, especially since elders, especially the extremely powerful ones, are often refered to as gods

hold on a minute... the beings that destroyed the Shrine Ruins were the Storm Serpents, but there's something i don't understand: Ibushi destroyed the village the second time, but seeing as both serpents are considered gods, why would Narwa destroy her own home? the ruins were home to "gods", right? both Ibushi and Narwa are called gods. so when the village was destroyed for the first time by a lightning bolt, only Narwa comes to mind. why would she do it? why destroy her own home and drive away her fellow "gods"? (i understand Ibushi destroying the ruins a second time, though)
@chemi1693 жыл бұрын
I saw another comment suggest that the gods that formerly inhabited Shrine Ruins were various other Elder Dragons, but they were driven out by Narwa so the serpents could have a place to perform their courtship. If Narwa was part of the original elders inhabiting the area, the notes probably would have mentioned that the storm was specifically created by one of the gods, so Narwa was very likely an invader who only wanted to inhabit the area for a small amount of time so she could mate with Ibushi.

Is it really fair to call the creatures in this game monsters? Very few of them are actually malicious and most of them are just animals in my eyes. To me, monsters are just creatures who attack innocents maliciously without reason or remorse.

They are called monsters due to there size and abilities. They are insanely massive and have what many would call supernatural abilities

That’s not what a monster is, monsters can be any creature that maliciously kill innocents for no reason at all except for sport or overall enjoyment. Any creature can be a monster, including humans.
