​@@VanguardNeo with how you can overcharge phials, it feels like a moot point. it's also a brand new game where numbers are gonna be slightly different across the board, so again, it might not be that big of a change. Also, you can aim SAED, you'll never miss. Always hitting 4 phials compared to sometimes missing 5 phials is a lot stronger.

You should look at some recent videos of charge blade, especially solos. Right now, we’re kinda just spamming ED and AEDs right now cause they stun like crazy and they’re pretty low on commitment. We’re clawing the controller like crazy rn lol. Hopefully they give SAED a buff or two to make them feel more useful.

It’s weird to since hammer can move the focus mode camera with its left stick which would eliminate the problem but it’s not like that with CB because they added new lateral axe slashes that can go left or right so that’s pretty annoying.

It definitely helps that the two are not mutually exclusive like they were in both world and rise where SAED would turn it off via vial depletion or morph to sword.

We'll have to wait and see how making builds plays out before we can really say if they're fully integrated or not. SA has typically always been more Crit focused and abandons Artillery entirely, especially early game. But it is cool to get at least some integration between focus attacks and overcharging phials.

Mained CB from the beginning on in mhw. But in the very endgame against the strongest and fastest monster I felt like it was a little too slow for my taste. SAED was hard to hit, savage axe took a lot of time to transform into and could only be used on knocked monsters really... Yeah I do love it still but I'm definitely gonna main something new this time around! Probably gonna be bow.

It seems like they really want to encourage heavy use of regular amped element discharges rather than exclusively relying on SAED's, what with the differential in damage increases you get from overchared phials and the increased number of actual phial bursts you get from using them one at a time in savage axe mode. Also, hot damn, full rotation after committing to SAED is so friendly, that'll be a great deal more fun to land.

Tbh I've always used Down L Stick + Y/Triangle to do regular AED's during fights as well as SAED's

@@jlb4685 Regular AED actually deals noticeable higher KO than SAED. On many monsters landing an AED on their head is enough to instantly proc their first KO. I say this because there is a benefit to using AED. SAED provides more burst damage but AED tends to be more phial-efficient and deals greater KO.

They are just making AED more convenient. It’s the one you should be using more since SAED windows are more rare. Power Axe combo and AEDs should be used more. It’s better than what it was for World and Rise which have you hold back and triangle to by extending the SAED into a new combo it also makes you do more damage plus what you said about the other damage buffs.

When i first saw gameplay, i thought the Elemental discharge follow-up would suck, but after playing a little, its actually pretty good, it helps when you cannot commit fully to SAED but you still want to dish out damage

I hope they can improve hit feedback for some weapons. Charge Blade seems fine but there are weapons that lack a bit of feedback like LS and SA (sword mode). They feel like cutting through paper with the damage number being the only indicator that you actually hit the monster

Played GS and the hit stagger/lag is very good. Gives a ton of weight to GS especially the offset attack. Played LS in rise and world borne and don't remember them having alot of hit lag in either entry

For those of you who may be discourage to play CB because of the "bomb placing combo" or "the number of your damage of 22.22222222% higher" don't be these 2 example of the information are pointless just learn the moves because that is the most important for CB and I mean there are a lot of combination of the moves. when you fight monsters there will be no need for "mini bomb" and for the damage number don't bother by them if it feels cool when doing it just do it no need for skip anything.

As a charge blade main, i think the charge blade feels slower and klunkier than Mhw (example charging sword and vials is slower and leaves you more vulnerable) I would love to know your options

@@hutkino I don't think Wilds CB is slower- in fact it may be faster. Maybe you're comparing it to World with the addition of the Focus skill that makes charging things faster. That skill makes CB charge moves like the double slash work faster than they do at base. I don't think the Wilds beta has focus available

Re: Shield Elemental Boost. The dismount attack can go into the shield charge because it ends in a *shield thrust.* So, if you want to do it while unsheathed you can just do a shield thrust, then press [guard]+[triangle]+[Circle] to perform the Shield Elemental Boost. It's slightly faster than the usual AED > roundslash shield charge, and goes into guard point faster.

One thing I didn't see mentioned is that you can do the new shield elemental boost combo from a regular ground combo as well without having to first store phials, similar to the dismount version mentioned. Triangle, Triangle+Circle, R2+Triangle+Circle, as an example.

I love this so much. I really like the changes to savage axe for multiple reasons because 1, all the methods for going into savage are so much more fun and fluid than in worldborne, and 2, not having it tied to phial charges makes it so much easier to use shield charge and condensed sword by extension. The only thing i have to say that isn't glazing this weapon is that i'm still kinda iffy on the new elemental discharge I. It's not even a complaint, but i think i still need to get used to it and how the other moves go into I instead of II now Gunlance is also amazing too, i am eating so good

I feel they nerfed the SAED too much. I agree in World it was too strong which made everyone just spam it. In Wilds however, the SAED is so weak there is no point throwing it over just using continuous pizza cutter mode. They need to find a better ballance between Savage Axe mode and using the SAED bomb. They need to BOTH be viable instead of just shifting the meta from SAED to the new Savage Axe meta. I like how good Savage Axe mode is now, but when I throw my SAED, it needs to hit like the nuclear bomb it used to be, especially now that I need to do a combo to reach it.

By “continuously pressing” it’s saying to in fact hold it down. To press without stopping, in other words to hold. It’s the same mechanic from Rise and if it’s exactly like it, you should be able to just hold the input down the whole time and it will freeze once it connects.

Focus mode is great for using fade slash + double charged slash. This now let's me dance around the monster by side stepping monster attacks and immediately building phials. You have to hold focus the entire time using this combo but make sure to not hit directional buttons when starting the double charged slash with the sword The savage axe has a variant where you use s directional input + triangle after any axe attack, this allows you to do a side step or backstep while attacking. Make sure to hold the attack button for extra damage. One important note, savage axe mode does not drain phials when doing triangle or circle axe moves. Just make sure you hold the button for extra damage. I actually dont destroy wounds with focus strike and try to save them until I need to renew savage axe mode. It really increases the uptime of savage axe mode and is one of charged blade's best dps options now. The reason why you build phials is to use SAED. I tend to use perfect guard against big monster attacks to then immediately retaliate with SAED. A bit of big risk, big reward playstyle

Anyone know if there is a difference between morph attach guard point and perfect block? Do they both have phial damage on contact? It seems they have the same follow-ups. Also, anyone else struggling with multi-button presses in this game? They seem far stricter than previous games. My AED input often gives me a regular sword attack.

i struggled with the aed thing too. and guard point and perfect guard are two separate skills. MHR had buffs that triggered on perfect guard, but not guard point

ok, now I get it. all of the weapons lack good hit stop because the Savage Axe took it all for itself. but seriously, I loved the way it felt in Power axe mode with the follow-up move, even if SAED needs one extra step. the perfect guard is great and gives you a SAED counterattack if you have the right opening.

My only problem with the CB is now you can't evade after an attack then turn any direction awhile putting phiels in your shield without using focus, probably won't be a problem once I master using the focus system but it feels stiff not being able to do that

One thing to add, GP can be an offset attack, and NOT a power clash. I GPed an attack from Rey Dau today, and triggered offset attack visual effect. I don't have a video though.

Finally! no need to switch to Axe + Charge + Shield Buff to use SAED. it can now perform shield buff after charging phials on sword mode. I'm learning the Charge blade on MH Rise , glad to see these changes.
