Try charging up the heavy attack and then doing another heavy attack in focus mode. Do it when there is a wound for an easy extract refresh. Also, do basically everything in focus mode. Light attack appears to have a sidestep now, which is nice for repositioning.

In focus mode normal attacks will apparently send your bug out mid attack to grab an extract right away. Plus helicopter mode in world didn't do THAT much damage unless you ended with the downward thrust. If there are other means to do just as much if not more damage then I don't see the problem personally

Now I'm certain that world and rise game play was integrated into 1 with wilds. That focus strike is much like a combination of previous demon flight, the spinning move of rise ending with the levi spinning attack. And that perfect counter evade move is like the shrouded vault move in rise. This'll make my game style in DBs more aggressive in wilds. Thanks for showcasing this brother!!!!! Been playing DB since they appeared on the franchise. My only problem with DB now is that you can't dodge right after the last hit of a normal (triangle) combo. Also, the spin attack (circle) feels way slower. It's like the game is lagging, feels sluggish. Rest of the changes are great.

to me, the spin attack just feels less arcade-ey. Like it seems like it's got more meat to it, and doesn't change the bread and butter combo (circle, circle, triangle) too much. I also like that the ult (circle + triangle) is broken up into smaller pieces now so that we're not stuck in a long animation if the monster moves.

Been playing with them on the beta! They feel so fun to use but feel verrry underpowered compared to the other ultra buffed weapons. Longsword, switchaxe and GS are just COOKED! Hope they bring them up a little bit, cause they are such fun weapons!

iirc the beta db aren't elemental damage, just raw. db is best with elemental and that's where all their power comes from. I'd bet they're still cracked, they just don't have as good a weapon in the beta to show it off

Other than to refill your demon gauge, I don’t even think the two/sixfold slashes from previous games will be our bread and butter anymore. Since you can cancel demon dance, you can just spam it over and over with whatever opening you have and still stay safe. DB’s are already getting 4:30? 5:00? Min speed runs w RAW vs Rey Dau, they will be melee kings once again when we get our hands on elements Edit: Ok those times above are for Bow which is to be expected, DB times are a little slower, but my point still stands

Is it wrong to think that you're going to main Dual blades, you will be making hunting horn as your secondary? Whereas previously you would hope you have the horn player boost you up, you can effectively now become your own buffer. Play your songs, doot yourself up and when the performance is over, swap to Dual blades and let it rip. While I do love being able to use two weapons in hunts now, I'm excited to think of what new possibilities we could see (even if it is limited to just having hunting horn boost you up and then you swap to something else)

You missed mentioning that hitting subsequent perfect dodges (after you already have the buff from the first) will refill some (all?) stamina, so skilled players will probably keep up some insane DPS in eternal Demon Mode

My baby boy Lance feels so odd right now, so while I take the time to re-learn the new shield timing... I think i'll be picking up Dual Blades. I'm pretty used to dodging/sidestepping with my lance, so I wonder if i'll catch on to those DB perfect dodges quicker? I'm excited to try!

Keep in mind that Demon Dodge also depletes your meter if you don't perfect dodge, so you can't just spam it.

Nah you can absolutely spam it. If you have archdemon mode active when you get a perfect dodge, you can use the entire 12 second duration spamming screw slicer

Perfect dodge probably just turned the dual blades into the best late game weapon in the game. You can technically have 100% damage uptime during fights. Limited only by sharpening, which you can mitigate with the quick sharpen armor skill.

I must admit that I love the fact that perfect evade and the arch demon mode were implemented but I think they missed when they made everything so heavily reliant on the demon gauge. It seems everything you do now drains the gauge and it sorta takes away from the weapon a bit.

They nerfed the infinite ground demon mode moving slash. It stops automatically now whe stamina is depleted. Maybe this is because DB has the perfect dodge now.

I've been a dual blades main since 4U, i didn't like these new DBs because they felt weirdly slow, I've gotten more used to it, and i think these might be my second favorite iteration other than rise (I love those wirebug moves...) but man it feels good to weave in and out of demon and arch demon!

hopefully the animations dont feel too “floaty” and the audio on hit is good. watching the gameplay it looks like the attacks arent doing much damage cuz all the spins and animations look weightless and floaty, and it is super unsatisfying to use a weapon that feels weak due to animations.

Aside from the interruptible combo & sometimes-working blue dodge, the DBs in MH Wilds feel like an overall downgrade from MH Rise. 🙁 I know MH Wilds' mechanics are based on MH World's, but I really liked some of the MH Rise additions, and I wish they would have considered them for Wilds too. Rise made Dual Blades feel a lot more mobile and had great vertical options too with certain skills.
