Strap on a charge blade shield would be tricky, considering how often they take it off to attach it as a weapon. Makes more sense for gunlance, lance, and sword & shield.

thought the same thing- like most times its morphing into Axe, so probably most designs would look like an Axe in Axe-mode, so to have a strap for the shield wouldn't make sense because imagine doing morph to Axe-mode and there is a piece of strap hanging on the Axe.

Counterpoint for the sneak attack not using a meaty axe attack, these sneak attacks are going to be done when the monster is calm and unaware of your presence, which I would imagine the majority of the time will be at the beginning of the hunt or after a period of disengagement from the fight due to traveling or some other delay. With that being the case, it would actually be more favorable to try to rapidly build phial charge to (re)initiate the fight rather than an axe attack that may not even have phials to discharge. While I agree, it doesn’t look as cool, I think that if the sneak attack has some kind of accelerated charge rate on the phials then it might be worth choosing function over fashion

That and the sound of switching modes and loading up the phials might realistically alert the monster to your presence, so staying in Sword mode for an instant out of nowhere surprise attack makes more sense logistically.

CHARGE BLADE MAINS, WE'RE MAKING IT OUT OF THE SANDSTORMS WITH THIS ONE The new AED follow-up and the ability to chain it straight into a SAED and presumably into other things like the sword-mode morph look like they're going to do *so much good* for the weapon's flow if you're being more aggressive than defensive. A Savage Axe attack being in Focus Mode - and looking kinda like a new version of Ripper Shield? - is gonna feel heavenly, and that animation is just amazing. That new UI is beautiful, and the new animation for the advancing Elemental Discharge is sweet too. Capcom cooked, and we're eating well when this comes out.

Again, I think they're focusing on making each weapon more fluid and rewarding more aggressive play (if executed right) Making the dance between monster & hunter ever so engaging and intense. I like the fact there aren’t any straps on the shield. I feel as though a magnetic strip between the shield and wrist/arm (maybe a magnetic wristband/armband) makes more sense for Charger Blade; due to excessive use of axe mode.

100% new spider monster. While its "close" to the Kadaki's both Kadaki's have a more bridal aesthetic style compared to the more elegant set this has. Kinda a mix between the Rose and Brigade sets. And Nerscylla has a more mecha/gundam knight theme going for it and is significantly more bulky. So its definitely not it either.

While the armor looks kinda Kadaki-ish the weapon looks COMPLETELY different. The Rakna Kadaki Charge Blade is a Key as the sword and a Lock as the shield. This here is just a very fancy sword and shield. Also with the fluff the weapon has on its handle it might also be a fluffy Moth Monster. Or maybe a Butterfly given the flower motif.

Its actually a perfect block like adept style. If you co frame by frame she doesn't start the morph slash, and at the start of the video she does the shield shimmy like adept style. The gunlance also had that so they might just give it to every weapon with a shield.

As a CB main in MHW I like most of what I saw here, but I found the effect of the SAED to be lackluster, the explosion doesn't look or sound as good abd impactfull as it does in MHW, its very similar to the Rise one, which to me is sad :(

Seems like things are kinda slowing down in terms of the changes made to the overall movesets. Charge Blade has very incremental changes in my opinion. Very nice to keep combos flowing, especially with not forcing you to go into sword mode after a Discharge move.

I personally don't think that's the case here. From what it looks like, they've put a lot of focus on reworking the least popular weapons (Gunlance and Horn are the two most reworked weapons by far) while the more popular ones will get very little additions since they don't need it. World Charge Blade is more than good enough on its own so it really doesn't need much. This is also my copium because I really need to some significant changes for Lance lol

I’m not a charge blade main but I did try it in the Rise training ground and I know at 7:21 to 7:30 is a new move but did the phial damage do stun Damage or did the shield do stun damage while the explosion did flat damage. I’m asking because if you look closely at how she uses the axe she turns the axe slightly downwards to the left so the blade doesn’t make contact, from there it looks like the loaded phial exploded in the center of the axe. I wonder if this is just careful craft of animation or if it is a new blunt attack for Charge Blade. This is just my speculation.

I'd love it if we got a guard point on the combo extender after AED, but I don't think that it's aligned properly to convey that it's a guard point. I agree "if it looks like a duck, it probably is a duck", but it's just kinda resting on her back, extended out way in front of her at a nearly horizontal angle, not exactly one that implies a guard point. I think it's more the camera not giving a full picture from the angle its at.

In contrast I love the new sounds. World made it sound meaty, but here it feels like its purpose built. The hardened steel vibrates like crystal quartz so you can feel how sharp the sword is, and the clinks of the morph and axe attacks are dampened but clear and clean sounding, showing how heavy, solid, and well put together the weapon is.

A lot has changed! The first thing is the expanded move set, a follow up after the axe mode regular strike (non-phial strike) which seems to flow into a phial swing. Being able to go between the two types of axe mode strikes is an important and innovative evolution of the weapon.

lots of small changes, overhead hit on axe mode came from a different angle AND used a phial, where usually the overhead hit doesnt, and instead u need to do that side chop from the hip. to go into the 2 hit 2 for 1 phial usage swing. the sword charge was MUCH faster to get the stun/element on the sword. u get some kind of mini burst before the saed. likely hunter can choose to shoot or not. might be a guard point yea.. no idea.

I might be wrong, but this blade looks like a water element CB when a lot of the attacks hit. That might be why a lot of the attacks sound a little strange. Kinda hard to make a water blade sound really meaty on the hits

So, the "savage axe" doesn't look like it makes the axehead spin and do multiple points of damage. The focus strike does, but I think the amped axe mode gets faster swings (maybe a new moveset? Don't think so but its hard to tell) and a considerably larger phial explosion. Im also assuming the focus strike is what activates amped axe, just because of where it is in the weapon overview, after the sword and shield amp, and because every attack before the focus slash has a static axe head, and every move after it has a spinning axe head

Switchaxe would use a switch from Sword back to Axe in the attack you mentioned, I'd use it to keep some Charge instead of a force morph, but it's more of a combobreak than a finisher.

don't worry much about the sounds. remember in older titles like mhgu sounds would change based on weapon. for example nyrscilla CB vs the standard steel CB had very different sounds.

2:36 Ruri didn’t seem to notice that there’s a phial discharge at the end of the new move, directly preceding the UAED. It shoots out along the ground, like a mini-UAED. I hope the sword and normal axe mode are more relevant. Charge Blade has such a big, versatile moveset, but endgame gameplay always just boils down to spamming UAEDs, or spending the whole fight in pizza cutter mode.

I feel what you said about the sound part too. Sound seems to be quite mid for the CB. But not only that, the visual effects/flashy particles feel quite "meh" too. Like just look at those small effects on the SAED compared to Word and Rise. Happens with the LS too. World and Rise they had a more visible "blade traces" (those anime style when swinging a katana). Was hopping to a more intense effects on this one like GU had u_u

Something I think I noticed for both the CB and LS, they want you to spend more time in the charged state. As opposed to doing helm splitters and SAEDs over and over. So alternate moves for LS, and (maybe) more guard points and combos in axe mode. I'm A-OK with this.

This is some gothic Lolita ass armor. This is something new. New spider, hell yeah, i'm all for it. Still hoping nerscylla shows up for those that haven't fought it yet but the idea of a new spider has me so hyped. All the underrepresented monster types. Where are my snakes? The first thing that looked like savage axe was the wound break attack, you jam the axe into the monster as it's spinning and keep it there to spin for a couple seconds. Kind of like how savage axe use to let you hold the input to interrupt the attack and have it stick into the monster and do more of those ticks of damage. Down side was, it ripped through sharpness and you couldn't move when it was in there. A friend pointed out that, before the SAED at the end, the axe hits then it sort of is hiddent behind the hunter then goes into SAED so that may be a guard point too.

As a lance main, all I want is 2 things, for for lance to able to block all attacks again, unblockables should only be for weapons like gs and sns who don’t have a fricking FULL BODY SIZE SHEILD and for chip damage to he removed or severely nerfed

I’m completely with you regarding the initial feeling of the SB. It feels a lot more smooth and not as meaty as its previous design, perhaps they’ll change it later

If i had to say, that armor could be a gunner set for pyro rakna kadaki, since they were absent from rise, but since the CB looks nothing like hers I'd say that this must be a new monster's set
