​@@SeizureNoodles Your not wrong about pushing over a siege ladder the more effective option is to either stab them as they get to the top or throw rocks/bricks/arrows/burning oil at them as they climb, that usually does the trick.

siege ladders had hooks that latch onto your inner side of the wall so you have to lift them up to clear the hooks and then throw them over, and thats like impossible when 5-20 angry hairy savages are climbing up it.

I’ve been to the Great Wall. It’s wild. The mountains are so high and so steep, they’re no joke whatsoever. If you fall you’re falling to your death. Plus, they’re a lot higher in person. They look small because they are so wide. The walls are so high up on mountain peaks that it’s not a real “ladder” kind of situation. You need to scale the mountain to get there at all. The Chinese were essentially capitalizing on a preexisting natural barrier.

The issue is it isn't all in the mountains and it's a lot of area to cover when dealing with fast mounted armies so you just hit somewhere easier and less defensive. It was quite the statement though both to the Mongolians and how much they feared them.

@@therealjohncena760 While the Great Wall ultimately wasn't perfect at keeping enemies out, it did work in some other ways: It allowed Chinese peasants to move into border provinces, as they were considered more safe than if they had been completely undefended, while also requiring fewer armies to be stationed there. This made border provinces a lot more loyal to the Emperor than they would have been otherwise. The Roman Empire regularly saw ambitious generals from border provinces rise up to take power, the Chinese Empires had basically none of that.

I certainly wasn't landing level 3 charges on Tigrex the first time I fought him... but when you got good as an old school gs hunter there was arguably no better blademaster weapon in terms of sheer damage and versatility.

Kick is great, we used to measure how tanky a monster is with kick since it always do a flat amount of damage. There wasn't any damage number shown before world. We also use kick as an unit of measurement for damage. There are plenty of moves in this game that worth less than a kick per second.

The Chinese wall wasn't as much a defensive perimeters, but rather an elevated road on which messagers could safely travel and signals could travel great distances quickly. (Light a fire on the tower if an enemy approached. Next tower sees it, does the same. And repeat)

I like the idea of really big ladders being caught in tree's, a ladder that's not quite big enough to quite reach the top, Mongolions stuck in trees after accidentally polevaulting from their horses, two mongolians on horses trying to really carefully manover the ladder between trees etc. Eventually they make it to the wall, but Steve who is on duty just pushes the ladder away from the wall.

The thing about the great sword is that, like most games, it emphasizes knowing enemy attack patterns. I have very few misses in World. Side note: most of the experimental features of Rise fix Great Sword.

Yep, I became a GS main in Rise just because I can quickly reposition with the wiredash. That tidbit of mobility was everything. Not really a fan of the alternative moveset to replace true charge slash combo, since it has so much hyperarmor it gets you killed in an instant against a lot of enemies, it has its place, although old moveset is still great.

Landing the last charge gets easy. Don't charge each strike just the third in the bunch that does most damage. With practice, you'll know when to strike. You'll also be able to go up to a sleeping monster, do the first 2 charges and missing (intentionally) to get that final charge right on the monsters dome. Go right next to its head, block, roll backwards, use that distance and commence.

"Why use the kick?" 1. To surprise Gargwa so they plop out their eggs. 2. To break your Palico companion's idle animation. 3. Rubbing (read:kick) salt on the wounds of downed monsters struggling to stand up and run away, because you forgot/ran out of bombs, and the unsheating animations took too long to deal damage without getting yourself stucked in animation just as the monster recovers and went straight for a quick attack. 4. Watching asmon playing MHW was pretty educational i will start playing tomorrow the game knowing which weapon i will definitely won't choose .

As a MHW player, I suggest...Insect Glaive. Fun, versatile, flashy. Downside - gotta keep up your kinsect buffs. So...maybe not for Asmon (my favorite weapon though) Daggers. Definitely. Easiest to use, imo easiest to master. Might not get a lump sum of damage in one hit but you get *tons* of damage numbers. Extremely high dps and you're actually hitting the monster!

As a greatsword user I feel identified and insulted at the same time
