Safi’Jiiva’s theme is actually super dynamic! Sadly, in the video you watched they didn’t show any of that. The dragon has two distinct phases, you listened to phase 1. There’s also a mechanic in the fight where he will sometimes target a single person, pursuing them specifically while ignoring the rest of the party. When that happens, that person and that person only will begin to hear a more demented version of the theme. This includes a heartbeat that you can hear in the background. Whether that’s the player’s heart or the Safi’s heart is up for debate. If you ever want to hear the full theme I recommend Dravonista’s video. It includes both phases and their special target versions

What is fascinating about Fatalis' Theme is the call and response around it! The choir and the instrumentation is composed in a way that it's essentially a vocal and cacophonous battle between Fatalis and the hunters. This is because Fatalis is one of the only monsters in all of Monster Hunter that is smart enough to know EXACTLY what the hunters are doing and thus has gained an unquenchable hatred for hunters. Essentially, Fatalis' goal is to hunt the hunters the same way the hunters hunt monsters, and it plans to do so with every ounce of malice that it can.

You definitely need to check out the full medley versions of the Safi and Fatalis theme (there are videos with all the phases and transitions edited in order for ease of access), bar none some of the absolute best multi phase OSTs in modern gaming history. Having experienced them in-game they're more than worthy of the praise they get for the feelings they invoke in the middle of gameplay. Gotta also add the other two large multi phase themes available in World, the Shara Ishvalda theme set and the Kulve Taroth theme set are also equally as impressive and awe inspiring.

The motivation why zinogre theme has eletric guitars is bc he is a thunder monster, the eletric guitars are used to showchase through music the thunder abilities of zinogre You should hear the different phases of Safi'jiiva theme, you only heard the 1st normal phase, not the heart-beat or 2nd ones

Those ARE electric guitars in Zinogre's theme. It's actually quite fitting - he's basically an RGB Gamer Wolf. His carapace has little holes in them that electrically charged insects nest in, and they juice him up with electricity. Iirc, his classification is something delightfully cheesy like "Thunderwolf Wyvern".

Safi'Jiiva and Fatalis both have Phase 2 and 3 tracks that switch things up, sad that they weren't played during this video, but awesome nonetheless! The fact that this video hit 23 minute while still missing some of the heavy-hitter tracks (Brutish Indigo, Brachydios' theme, or Golden Wukong, Rajang's Theme) goes to the the quality of the OST! I'll keep my fingers crossed for a part 2 someday🤞 I know there are medley videos which include each phase of certain battles, but some of them include loops of each phase so it becomes confusing to try to hear them back-to-back 😅

When Zinogre first premiered, the whole vibe of the game setting was Edo era Japan. It's also a very prominent electric elemental beast so they did include electric guitar to counter the more traditional sounds. I prefer the original version of his theme since it also had chanting to go with it. The Iceborne version is still a great composition.

Alright, more lore time. Safi'jiiva: Title: Red Dragon. Giant f*ck-off laser-spitting dragon. The matured counterpart of base World's end boss, Xeno'jiiva. As a species, it is able to absorb the bio-energy of deceased monsters, primarily other elder dragons, in order to grow and fuel its own attacks. Safi specifically is able to inexplicably warp the ecosystems around it, resulting in the ecological Frankenstein that is the Guiding Lands. Velkhana: Title: Ice Dragon/Iceborne Wyvern. An until recently unconfirmed species of elder dragon that lives in extreme tundra regions. One of only two purely ice-based elders, it is largely known for releasing a substance akin to liquid nitrogen from parts of its body, creating an icy armor. Zinogre: Title: Thunder Wolf Wyvern. A species of fanged wyverns that inhabit wooded, typically mountainous regions. While already extremely deadly due to possessing both extreme agility and physical strength, their symbiotic relationship with Thunderbugs makes them even more so. Swarms of the insects rest in Zinogre's fur and back plates, literally supercharging the beast. Flagship of Portable Third, and most popular monster in the entire series. Fatalis: Title: Black Dragon. The God of all Monsters; The Wyvern of Destiny and Destruction; Bane of Schrade. The most powerful of all elder dragons, with even the likes of Safi'jiiva and Alatreon barely coming close. Wields flame that would even put Teostra, the Emperor of Flame, to shame, using it to melt down opponents and then use them to reinforce its own natural armor.

I'm gonna comment again because I have very powerful autistic hyperfixations about Monster Hunter lmfao Fatalis' theme is... very unsettling and chaotic, and it's on purpose. Until now, the player has been hunting things that are basically just wild animals - Zinogre's theme might not sound like it, but he's really not a big deal in terms of story and lore. He's just a dog that likes bugs. Elder Dragons, like Velkhana, have a little more of a presence in the world of Monster Hunter. Elder Dragons are a classification of monster usually reserved for the very pinnacle of strength and danger - for example, Velkhana herself has devastating control over ice - so much so, that she completely shut down the ecosystem of a continent she wasn't even on (ingame, frozen monsters start showing up and the canteen's food supply runs dry). Technically, Fatalis lies beyond the title of Elder Dragon. Thought by some to be the progenitor of Elder Dragons, you're not just fighting a dangerous monster, you're fighting a fucking doomsday prophecy. Fatalis, in one day, completely wiped an entire civilization off the face of the earth out of pure resentment for what they'd done. While there are definitely monsters that could kill a Fatalis one on one, I don't think anything has even come close to Fatalis' kill count. It's one of the few monsters that the guild (basically monster hunter government) will outright deny the existence of. It's feared that much.

Every single game has a killer ost (though I have a soft spot for Tri, since that was how I got into the series). Edit: Also, a tip on finding the full versions of some of these songs (to avoid endless looping), serch for the name of the theme followed by the phrase full medley. That should solve the issue.

Monster Hunter can be tricky, in this video, Safi & Fatalis have a Phase 2 theme that is hugely different from the 1st one. Safi has : Phase 1/Phase 1 Targeted/Phase 2/Phase 2 Targeted Fatalis has : Phase 1/Phase 1 Mount/Phase 2/Phase 2 Mount/ MH1 Proof of a Hero It's complicated but, a channel by the name "That Chimichanga" has a complete medley for Fatalis & other Monsters in the franchise as for Safi, look for the 17 to 18 minutes long video...when you have the time. MonHun is 20yrs old & there's a lot to unpack, if I had to recommend 4 Music I would recommend "Ceadeus which has 2 Themes as well as the Credits theme for Monster Hunter Tri" "Gore Magala from Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate" "Shantien from Monster Hunter Frontier/this one has 4 or 5 Phases I don't remember but it's bonkers so yeah" and finally because I've seen others do it & they're fine "The Doshaguma theme from the next entry in Monster Hunter... Monster Hunter Wilds, look for the 8 minutes long video from [Caro flinguant] or something like that, you'll get the Regular Theme, Pack Monster Theme & I believe the Chase Monster theme". I'm very sorry for this WHOPPER of a comment, I do not know if you take suggestions through donations or something & this comment could be useless. I'm just passionate about MonHun & Music in general, if you want to immerse yourself in MonHun via it's OST, I want to try & make sure you get the best experience ! Oh & yes, that was Arch Tempered Velkhana you listened too, there's a different Theme for Regular Velkhana, Velkhana has it's regular theme, a mount theme, a chase theme, a reverse chase theme & a unique victory fanfare, so yeah you got done a disservice altho AT Velkhana's theme is awesome, it's severely lacking in the example you listened too. It’s VERY fitting that the ost for Fatalis is as menacing as it is. He is the strongest member of an ancient group of monsters known as the “Black Dragons” which contain the most powerful creatures in the Monster Hunter universe. Each one of the Black Dragons is considered a potentially world ending threat and Fatalis is the most feared of them all. His fight also lives up to this reputation since he is the hardest boss fight in Monster Hunter World by a country mile. It took me multiple hours just to get past his first phase and over a week to complete the entire hunt! Definitely the kind of fight where you question whether it is even fun at times due to the sheer difficulty.

Im gonna explain why i love fatalis and how great his theme is. From iceborne we learn the dragon called fatalis isnt actually its name instead a long time ago a kingdom called Schrade specifically castle Schrade was attacked by a strong monster whose flames melted the strongest of metals with their weapons not doing anything instead trying to buy time for people to escape they fought valiantly but were outmatched. After the monster had destroyed castle Schrade it laid dorment in the rubble with those who escaped established east and west schrade kingdom and no war has happened between the two due to the castle being in the middle and not wanting to provoke the same destruction that destroyed the castle. It would be during this time the event would be called fatalis with name meaning destined battle in wyverian languange with the monster holding the title Now this is my head canon but i believe the vocals are actually the residents of Schrade and those who have met an untimely death by fatalis who are singing its destructive evil behavior in phase 1 with phase 2 singing the same terror however in parts its sounds like the vocals are encouraging us

So for mild context, Fatalis is basically agreed to be the god of monster hunter and is so weird and terrifying that we can’t fully explain its ecology, it’s way of life, how it came to be, and also it may or may not be a living apocalypse so that’s a whole thing. It is the big bad, the thing people have nightmares about, the thing with dozens of folklore and stories and we aren’t sure if any of them are really true or not and everyone and everything is scared of it.

Please check out Dravonista, they fitted all the themes basically perfectly to not endlessly loop and slot in other phases and mount themes, which makes em' so much better. My recommendations are the full Zinogre, Kulve Taroth, Safij'iva, and Fatalis themes Also PLEASE listen to the Monster Hunter World Brachydios and Raging Brachydios themes. They are so good
