Monster Intel Core i5 2500K Overclocked to 5.5GHz Under 1.5v on Water Cooling

I recently found a pretty interesting 2500K. At least for normal use on water cooling, it is definitely the best Sandy Bridge I've had this far. Can run multicore tests at 5.2-5.3 at around 1.35v, and on the video I demo the CPU at 5.5GHz with around 1.5v. The cooling system is not the utmost best possible, so under 1.5v is definitely possible.
Lowest voltage it needed for 5.5GHz boot was around 1.4v, but sadly the max multiplier was only 5.6. So that means the CPU is likely too weak for record attempts on LN2. A dream CPU for daily use nonetheless.

That's wild Vcore, Luumi. I've had my 2700K (4C 8T) running at 1.385 V offset and 4700 MHz for 12 years on air.

Sandy Bridge is overrated. I had 2 CPUs that both maxed out at 4.5-4.6 GHz.

@thatguy7595 Not bad from 3.3GHz to 4.6GHz, what did you use as maximum voltage? I ran a 2500k daily on 1.58v for 5+ years.

i miss my 7700k that did 5.5 ghz all day on air LOL it was delidded though along with liquid metal and a NH-D15 but it ripped impressively fast.

Very interesting CPU. It is quite sad it wont boot on higher multipliers. One small doubt: What is the exact model of ELPIDA chips you are using? I cannot quite grasp what you say to identify, I am sorry, not very good at hearing english i guess 😢

@@Igbf it's a lot cheaper, but great bins are very difficult to find as well, and the variance with BBSE is quite high. It's definitely an alternative, but worse than Hyper on 1366 in most scenarios.

What's the max BCLK you can run on the CPU/board. Because from my testing, you may also need to bin boards for p67/z68. As my z68 4 extreme seems to lock at 107 BCLK.

Pretty good yeah, 5.5gigadudes@1.5v is pretty good under water. These cpu don't heat too much anyway. My 2600k could do 5gigadudettes@1.47v under water, so average good i guess. 🎉👍

I suggest you build a retro PC only with parts available at that time with that processor. That PC will maybe be quite valuable in maybe 10-20 years.
