That’s some crazy good perch fishing! Just as good as Long Point ON, directly N of you guys about 37 miles across the water. This fishing there is great no doubt. There are big perch feeding on gobys. The only problem is most guys there are out to take their limit of 50 perch every time. The fat female perch are full of eggs to spawn. By taking too many, the good fishing will soon go away. I would like to see a 20 fish limit on perch 03/15 - 04/30 to not disrupt the spawn - like bass and pike. Or at least toss a few of the females back during that time. A little conservation goes a long way for future generations.
@scotchyelper34025 жыл бұрын
Educated your self and call the Dec and ask them the effects recreational fishing has on the overall population on the lake even taking the ones full of eggs. They will tell you it has no effect on the overall population due to the fact there is such a large population from NY to pa to Canada. It's better to educate yourself before coming on line trying to sound like a know it all. That way you don't sound like a fool. Just saying bitch about the commercial fishing of lake Erie perch they take much larger numbers than the recreational fisherman. Even then it has little effects on. Just saying
@scotchyelper34025 жыл бұрын
And don't try to impose limits because you feel a certain way. Limits are based off scientific understanding of. Not what you feel or think you know. Allow the recreational angler 50 a day and it will not effect the population 1 bit. Another control freak dumbass who wants to impose more laws based on bogus BS. Go play your games with people not in the know. That way you do not appear as you are.

OK folks, state record in ohio for yellow perch is 15 3/4". At best the fish they were catching 10 to 12", I read some of their comments here and they claim to have caught bigger than 15". @BillMikesAnglingAdventures4 жыл бұрын
my fault i didn't have a tape measure this day but on the NY section of Erie 13 to 15" perch are very common , most of the larger fish on this day were 13 to 14 inches whether you believe or not . heres a older video of a 15" perch from erie kzbin.info/www/bejne/g5y3Y4qBZ9h7npY 1:51 into the video i measure it . no apology required - now good day sir
@jasonwilliams78184 жыл бұрын
In the eastern basin of Lake Erie the jumbo perch average 14-16 inches!! You can't compare the western basin with the eastern basin!! Ohio and Michigan are the western basin of the Lake which is the smaller perch!! Ny and the little bit of Pennsylvania are the eastern basin!! Maybe you should do your research and look at a map and learn how to read it before you decide to belittle someone!!

@scotchyelper34025 жыл бұрын
That's funny I know guys who catch a bunch of perch every year in Ohio pa NY the population is at a all time high so idk what your saying? Because you can't fish so you think there is a issue with the population being reduced due to recreational fishing. Your on crack. Ask the Dec what the effects recreational fishing has on the overall perch population on the lake and they will tell you it has no effect on due to the massive population through out the lake. So save your bogus thoughts for people not in the know. Trying to impose more unnecessary was based off bogus facts is not going to float here bro. Go play that game with people not in the know. You will fit right in there.
@tigerseye735 жыл бұрын
@@scotchyelper3402 Actually the population is down, due to climate change (warmer shorter winters). The perch spawn earlier than they should; eggs are not fully developed, fry are weaker and smaller. The decline is not due to rec. fishing. But the numbers are down. Just saying. Best of luck.

To the fishermen who object to keeping females full of eggs: the perch population on Lake Erie is closely regulated each year. The ODNR and adjoining states that border Lake Erie has determined as long as fishermen follow the catch limits keeping females does not damage the yellow perch population.
@charlesfoutch11323 жыл бұрын
I don't think there is even a limit for them in TN. None of the lakes I fish have them though. If you bring them up that fast from that deep of water they will probably die anyway.

I fish Detroit river and the perch are scarce, used to be buckets everywhere 20 yrs ago, but I BLAME THE COMMERCIAL FISHING, they keep downsizing their nets and the fines are a joke in Ontario. However if you get enough for a mea,l the big females should go back, your eating the fish that have the most toxins, every fish species is best eating at 3-5 years, over that its more toxic. It won't kill u but give u and ur family the best, cheers

The limit should be reduced
@BillMikesAnglingAdventures7 жыл бұрын
the limits 50 per angler and we only had 46 or 47 in the cooler so were a hundred or so short - maybe next time

Based on what? Because your feelings? The limits are based off scientific understanding of. Not what you feel. You are wrong the limit should stay at 50. Why should the limit be reduced? Surely not due to your understand of. Because your understanding of is wrong. Call the Dec ask them about recreational fishing and the effects it has on the overall population of the lake. They will tell you it has no effect due to the massive population from NY to pa to Canada. So don't try to impose bogus laws that make no sense. Go play that shit with people not in the know. Educated your self before coming on line and sounding like a fool. Sounding like well you do.

Catch a 15 inch perch...this is big perch. Catching these full off eggs depletes the supply by you hungry hogs.
