@@sr.pabl0806 yup. He was a decade before his time not to mention the trucks back then weren'T as durable as they are now. Monster jam these days sucks so bad, its so like, for KIDS. It used to be a legit competition with legacies in mind with jimmy creten, Meents, Dennis, etc etc. now its all baby stuff. and the jumps designs also suck now compared to back then, so uncreative these days. Scott douglas also retired so everything sucks now lol

@@lbj2320 Legacies and Jimmy Creten? Man, that dude was absolutely terrible at freestyle. Literally one of the worst lol He was great at racing, but always played Freestyle too safely, avoided big jumps, and tried as hard as possible to not damage his truck and it just made for a boring display. His freestyle championship win was a fluke, everyone else broke or crashed early. He was one of the few trucks to actually complete their runs so he was able to win by default. It also inflated his ego a bit because he always bragged about that win and the announcers were always trying to hype it up like "WILL THESE GUYS BE ABLE TO BEAT THE FREESTYLE CHAMPION!?". The answer was yes. Always yes. Just to note, my opinion is based off pre-2012, which is about the time I stopped watching due to SpeedTV taking it off TV. I dunno how he was up until 2020. I agree with the rest of your comment though. New monster jam is just boring. The biggest reason though why I think it sucks is because they shut the trucks down if they break too early. Or take a jump too high. Or if there's the 'risk' of danger. Which is awful. You can also tell that the drivers themselves are told to hold back and avoid that shit. Some of the best runs of the past came as a result of broken trucks.

Gotta love Tom. He just gasses the damn thing, dosen't give a crap about "hitting all the obstacles", "filing the time" or "pleasing the judges". He just goes full thorttle, and what happens happens. That's the definiton of Freestyle. Now if everyone else was like Anderson, Meents, Belhan and Weenk

Back when Monster Jam was still fun to watch. Now I watch it when I literally have nothing else to do, which is to say never. The announcers aren’t as good, the drivers aren’t as good (except for the few like Tom, and Jim Kohler that are still around), and the tracks absolutely suck.
