Is this the original bigma or a later version? When did this come out do you think? I am thinking of a tele for landscapes but do not want to spend a fortune and I have the MC-11 adapter for my Sony which makes all these Sigma EF lenses work natively. Even ancient Sigma from the early 90's.

Hi, I think this lens is from around 2010 and no, it is not very expensive. I've seen them in between 200 and 400€. I have one full of fungus that I bought for 50€ and it's waiting on a box for cleaning. Cheers.

I have Nikkor 200-500mm. In combination with D700 is almost 4kg. I use it almost exclusively from the tripod with gimbal head.

That sounds like a photo + bodybuilding plan. I tried that once with a 300 2.8, D700, and very sturdy tripod, ended up hurting my shoulder.

@@diyextravaganza I know that feeling. I tried 500mm f/4....only lens weight 4,5kg.

@@strix_pht you must be in very good shape 😋

@@diyextravaganza Unfortunately no, I can carry this combo approximately 10 minutes 😞

@@strix_pht that's already 10min workout. I tried recently a double camera harness, works really nice as long as you have two things of the same weight attached on each side. You should maybe take a look at something like that.

It's a monster alright - I have the 150-500 Sigma, not something you want to handhold for too long - great lens though.

It's an interesting lens indeed, not for the weak !

I have the Four Thirds version, which older, no IS, but starts at f/4.0 Not very sharp and too slow for reliable wildlife shots, but its very cheap for what it is

I've never tested that version but yes, it is very cheap for what it does.
