Unfortunately, it doesn't seem the case. I've just seen a no-death playthrough of the game, and it still gets a Bad Ending. Apparently it's connected to managing to damage a certain number of bosses, like smashing Moai's face, removing Centaur's mask, destroying Fungus/Slime's nucleus... (It's even possibile to make Brainy's main eye fall off, but I've seen it in a single video years ago and they managed when it was almost dead anywy.) But I'm not sure it's linked to that either. No one seems to know what really and exactly determines the ending, and it's frustrating.

Apparently you actually get the worser ending for beating the game with no continues. Not sure if that was a mistake or the developers were just trolling.

This was really well programmed/designed. When you're thrashing the bosses it actually shows how overwhelmed they are, and by that I mean the player-enemy dynamic is very well executed simple as it may be.

ivan bucio Well, what you see is what you get. With exception of small side scrolling stages after beating the 8 bosses and has Coop Multiplayer. If you enjoyed Mega Man Power Battle series or you're the fan of the Fighting Games overall, then it's worth a try for sure. ; )

I have a weak connection to this game. When I was ten or so, I was on a family holiday in Spain when we were in a restaurant. I then saw two arcade cabinets. One was Metal Slug, the other was this. I wanted to play it, but I was shy about video games. They seemed like something you shouldn't play - which I always knew was nonsense but I was an irrational child. Anyway, I just watched. Eventually, someone was playing it, just like I was hoping. I got to see a bit, I think, thanks to them and the attract mode. I forgot the name of the game over the years, but I was able to track down its identity thanks to "Ask The Tropers" on TVTropes. Although I must admit, the final boss is kinda lame looking compared to some of the others. Another mech? Yawn.

Wow, I have a similar story. This game was in a city in the north of Spain (Laredo? Santoña? I always mix the two). I was completely struck by how awesome it looked. It also was running in a Megalo 50 inch cabinet, so imagine seeing those HUGE enemies for the first time. I believe it was summer of 94 or 95 since I didn't heard of Metal Slug until later. Also it was the japanese version, so the only thing I could remember was that you could fight a brain, a dragon, moai, centaur and an slime monster and the game showed "DD" between levels (instead of MM on the international version). After years it turned out to be this game (DD = DaDarn Darn). The ost is pure 90's Konami magic.
