I really love the idea of attacking a monster with a specific kind of damage (i.e. cold) causing it to act later in the round than its set initiative. That's a really good way of showing something being susceptible to getting slowed down, without needing to rob a given creature of its movement, action economy, or other basic means. I don't think I've seen that particular effect on a monster before, and I may very well use it.

I agree. The way that C&C handles certain monsters is often very creative.

Loved this. I'm always on the look out for D&D content about plants, oozes, slimes, and jellies. Worth subscribing to.

Wow! This video is really helpful. Thank you! By the way, is the premiere of DND with high school students season 6 coming up soon?

Thank you! We're working on season 6. As with any gaming group, it is going slowly because of scheduling issues. Hope to have it hammered out and moving forward soon.

Yeah, I can see these things just being all over a swamp. But while the 'algae' version only appears in places with water, I would also have a 'moss' version that can just come out of the very mossy trees you find in a forest, jungle or dungeon walls that are covered in moss. So the players can still be attacked by this monster even if they don't go near the water. 😅
