Monster redfin, or Perch are often caught during the winter months. Of late I have caught a lot of small redfin with bait, so it was great to tangle up with some big winter redfin perch again.

Nice dinner sized fish. I'm envious! I went to Myponga Reservoir the other day. Plenty of redfin to be caught from kayaks but I didn't hook anything from the bank. Two other people each caught terrific size yellabellies there while I was fishing. Just the one yella each. One was the bloke's PB but he doesn't know how long it was because his measuring tape is only 40cm long 😊 His wife was with him and she offered to buy him a bigger tape. I've rarely seen a bloke look so proud. I reckon my turn is not far away.

Great video mate, really enjoyed it and was great to take a break from reality for a few minutes. I noticed in the picture of your CRACKER redfin that your vanford is spooled with mono or fluro (hard to see), conventionally speaking for light fresh water and ocean fishing with plastics braid is typically used. Given the sedona XT is a bottom bashing rod (great for plastics) due to the connection it maintains with jig heads, I would've thought that spooling it with something light would be viable to ensure maximum contact and control over the lighter lures. You are a cracking fisho mate so there has to be a reason, just thought I would ask out of pure interest.
@robbiefishing
@robbiefishing 11 ай бұрын
Thanks so much mate. I hate light braid. I've tried it a couple of times and have always reverted to mono. I run braid on my heavy cod rods, but simply don't like it on light spin gear. I find that mono casts better on spin reels, and braid casts better on bait casters. Also, I like the stretch in the line, especially when I'm trout fishing which I also do with this rod.
@vascor9344
@vascor9344 11 ай бұрын
@@robbiefishing Ah fair enough, generally speaking braid tends to cast further, I can understand having more control over mono, especially around dense vegetation, as my braid gets tangled in trees and thorns when trout fishing. Also noticed that you also don't run leader on the braid setups.

Hi mate, I actually wade a lot in many of my videos, but only in the warmer months. I wade in a lot of my cod videos, but mostly in my trout videos. Excellent question. I love everything that the Victorian Fisheries Authority do, except the lack of trout stream stocking. I have a bit of a bee in my bonnet over that one. They still stock lakes thankfully, and the trout swim up the streams, but not all streams run into lakes. There's definitely a notable difference in fishing between the streams that flow into those lakes and the ones that don't. We have more and more people fishing, and have stopped stream stocking at the same time.

@@robbiefishing I’m sure the amount of money fishery’s make a year , would be more than enough to stock all water ways i think.After all the fish do all the hard work🤣
