Hi. About the Patent nintendo claims against Palworld, In japan, you only have ONE year to file a patent. But Pocketpair made Craftopia before that patent was filed, and Craftopia released even before Pokemon legends arceus.

So does that mean that the patent that they are using cant be acted upon since they made crafttopia? Does crafttopia have spheres in the game and how does crafttopia impact the patent for palworld? (Apologies for these questions I'm just really confused on this patent thing)

@@solarsun1702 mechanics wise yes, craftopia does have the spheres, just different model. also ark survival evolved has cryopods too so mechanically speaking, that game also has the same thing too and that came out years before.

It isnt specifically a Palworld 1:1 port. It could be anything as it was stated to "expand the IP" rather than "release the game on a mobile platform for a wider audience".

If so, the positive ripple effect from one Game evolving a Genre seems to have a large impact in itself. Wouldn't be surprising if that was something the big players fear, when all they have is one steadily growing genre in their one way.

As I understand it, the infringement didn't cover the whole of Nintendo's original patent, so they had to break it up into parts so that they could sue for infringement of the specific parts. In this case each part patent gets backdated to the original parent. (Ideally they would have been filed separately at the time in the first place.)

It's so annoying that Nintendo and Pokemon would rather waste money and time on a dumb lawsuit instead of you know, trying to put out a better product. The only thing they are accomplishing here is showing the world how big of a Bully they are and how unreasonable they are. This is not good PR for Nintendo or Pokemon.

Because these types of games that sell well threaten their possible sales if they continue doing well. Its more about forcing the competition to kneel rather than being on an equal level. Aka a monopoly. 19 million people on Palworld through PC and Xbox/Gamepass.
