It pisses me off when I see unfriendly comments on a video someone has gone to the trouble of putting up. This is a spectacular fish caught in a pretty extreme environment. The guy who is in charge obviously knows what he is doing and has put someone onto a fish that will give him a memory of a lifetime. For anyone discrediting the effort involved in this, "shame on you, go and attempt to get footage and post". To the Video maker. Great effort bud, it sounded like you were going to release this bad boy too, good for you full marks all round. Thumbs up from New Zealand.

Rivergod21 Totally agree with you. I noticed the guide asking several times whether they wanted to eat the trout...otherwise it would have been released unharmed. Btw during the early 80'is I did the Heaphy and the Copland track in NZ....did some quite illegal fishing.....fish eggs and live bait.... and rustling in the south island....plenty of hungi's with stolen lambs....lol. Great country NZ! cheers from Berlin

Melinda Widjaja LMAO. I think you're right. You could probably put any word between "monster" + "caught on video" and get millions of clicks. I'm just thinking about all the fishermen who've posted videos of big, huge, gigantic trouts.... but if people don't know it was a MONSTER, and that it was CAUGHT ON VIDEO... we can't be 100% sure it even happened = too risky to click. It's just so random how videos like this go viral.

First of all it is a male (Buck) brown trout for ask those who keep saying it is a salmon. Eric Haataja guides in the Midwest mostly around Lake Michigan and is a honest and reputable guide to say the least. It is a small but good eating size fish considering we get browns upwards of 20 pounds regularly. No harm done to the eco-system if he actually ended up keeping it. Keep up with the videos Eric and hope to see you again at the Burnout Bash.

What's with all the comments complaining about vegans and vegetarians when I can't find any of those comments at all?
@daniellemartin11769 жыл бұрын
+Sombrero Cucumber That's just what raging dumbasses do on any video that has to do with hunting/fishing/animals existing. They feel all this bizarre, misdirected aggression toward vegetarians/vegans (what even is that? guilt?), so they automatically go on the defensive and feel this irresistible need to insult them and make ~*hilarious*~ jokes about bacon and killing shit. I'll never understand it. Just let people live their damn lives-- especially if they're not doing anything to hurt anyone.
@sommythedestroyer54059 жыл бұрын
Danielle Martin That makes a lot of sense. I think I sort of know why they feel gulit over their diets and hatred towards vegetarians/vegans. People don't want to hurt anyone but they know they do, so they attack the ones that don't hurt anyone in order to make themselves right. And that means, as you mentioned, go to a random animal video and bombard it with "lelz veganz u mad?? Animals taste g00d and bekon is God's food" but when it comes to a video of a cat being bathed, it's a wole different story.

***** Damn that was so accurate. Asians really can be stereotyped because little to none actually prove otherwise
@TeamActionAngling10 жыл бұрын
***** the end of the video he says "well get a picture and let him" then it cuts off. Unless "fillet his catch" were the next words I'm pretty sure they were putting it back. Plus the emphasis on the horizontal hold so as not to hurt the fish. He was with a guide.. I think dinner fish were guides choice.
@TeamActionAngling10 жыл бұрын
***** I have gaffed and released many fish through the ice. Its not like you can use a landing net. The gaff works great for release with a little know how. They gaffed this fish carefully in the mouth without puncturing anything. That's better than a finger in the gill plate any day. I disagree with the Asian stereotype. I see them keeping fish, yes, but I'd rather see them with a basket of tiny sunfish than a dumb southern american with a giant bass or trout on a stringer. Fishing is great this year!
@whoopdeedo8310 жыл бұрын
***** It depends on the Asian. I'll admit I've seen more than a handful at the lake keeping fish they shouldn't be and I enjoy promptly calling game and parks and watching them get ticketed. Of course I have friends who prefer to simply take their fish and release them whether they like it or not. As long as they obey the rules I don't care what they do.

@davidbeckenbaugh95986 жыл бұрын
They put a gaff hook into the top of he fish's mouth. A little hook in it's brain is OK, right? No, the fish was kept. And it is legal to do that. So there was no problem here. Not everyone releases everything like you do. Some people like to eat fish and it is a healthy alternative to beef. Now, if it was not a legal fish, then they would not have gaffed it in the head. Most people, if there is only a hook and not a lure in it, will cut the line, if it is not in the lip, instead of pulling it up. The hook is gone in a few weeks and all is well. And the guy cheering him on sounded like he REALLY knew what he was doing.

the ice looked to be roughly around a foot, which is more then thick enough to be on, i've fished on 4 inches of ice, you can fish on 2, weather depending. anyways, a nice trout, i caught a brookie yesterday but nothing close to that size =D

@weezing10159 жыл бұрын
Nope, and although that is big trout, that is nothing compared to what you can easily catch offshore. I love watching freshwater fishermen react to a big fish when they haven't seen saltwater ones.
