Looking for some cute hanging plants, wall containers and ideas for containers. Interested in making glass terrariums with geometric designs, plants and stones. I thought of idea. Hi Christine. First of all: I love your videos. I think your "transformation" from "so foxy" to what and who you are now is astonishing. Yor style and the way you transmit it s absolutely mine and so inspiring. Go on like this. I'd love to see much more of it. My Monstera is quite big, approx. 1.6 m in height and 1m+ in diameter. It was gifted to me and since t is growing like crazy I assume it feels good the way I treat it. However, it came with a metal pole for support and in a way twisted around itself. Is there still a chance to get a more suitable pole in there, resp. the plant getting used to it? Will it still use it for climbing, even if it is already so twisted? Thanks for your help. I tagged you in a photo of my monstera.

My mom got me a new Monstera Andsonii bcuz i accidently over watered mine and it died. Ive only had it for a week and i tried to google why my leaves are turning black on the edges. It says it was overwatered or its a disease. Im sure i didnt over water it. As soon as water dripped from the bottom i stopped and let ot drain.its being quarantined in my washroom bcuz it had gnats and I have to use a grow light bcuz there is no light or window in my bathroom. Even my moms plamt is doing the same thing.....i dunno what to do. I just got this plant, and i love it. Google said to cut the black parts out to prevent it from spreading, but that didn't do much. Im stressed that i might lose my new plant.

Christine, A couple weeks ago I had a succulent that appeared to be perfectly healthy. Then I noticed that the leaves toward the bottom of the stem were drooping. I felt the soil and it was dry, so I watered it. For the rest of the day, every time I walked by, more leaves were drooping. They were literally turning to watery mush from the stem out. It was one of the succulents that have one stem going up like a tree with thin longer leaves coming off from that. Finally after a few hours, it lost all of the leaves, and when I touched the stem it was watery and mushy. This wasn't a case of over watering. I let my succulents dry out between waterings. Over the last two weeks, I've had three more succulents lose some leaves the same way. Have you ever heard of this before? I'm at a loss. I even threw one away out of fear it could be a disease. One other thing, the day the first succulent died, I noticed a piece of fruit in my fruit basket had started to mold. It was near the succulent. Could mold spores have infected the plant? What should I do? Oh, also, I use cactus soil for all my succulents.
@cactusandfriends_by_vane
@cactusandfriends_by_vane 4 жыл бұрын
Hello,🤗, just trying to help you... If the leaves of your succulents are kind of translucent and soft or gummy and they fall off and the plant dies, that's to much water almost all the times, believe me I've experienced that 😣. Mold in fruit is different from the fungus of the leaves, wich would have caused black spots in the succulent leaves. The amount of water they need is different depending on temperature, (almost no water in winter) and they need to have dry soil between waterings, this is very important. Embed a stick of wood deep in the pot and extract it and see, that way you know if there's humidity in the low part of it yet. Less is more in terms of water with succulents, especially with chunky leaves ones. Have a nice day. Love from Spain🤗.
@mommyfindingfit
@mommyfindingfit 4 жыл бұрын
@@cactusandfriends_by_vane Thank you for the tips. I will definitely try that. I've never even thought of putting a stick in it. In this case, I'm sure it wasn't over watering. At the time the leaves started to fall, it had been about a week since the plant was watered, and the soil was dry. We live in the south, so it gets pretty hot here. I've never seen anything like this before. It was literally green and perky one minute, and the next time I walked past it, the leaves were starting to turn dark, droop, and turn to mush. It only took a matter of hours for the entire plant from the soil up to turn completely to watery mush. I'm just baffled. I've never seen a plant go from looking perfectly healthy to dead in the span of a few hours.
@mommyfindingfit

@@mommyfindingfit Oh, wow, that's a fast decay for a plant! Perhaps it received too much sun and got "cooked", that's very fast when it happens and there's no way to fix it... I use bamboo barbecue sticks because they dry quickly and I can wash reuse them. And they are very cheap!☺️
@mommyfindingfit
@mommyfindingfit 4 жыл бұрын
@@cactusandfriends_by_vane It was sitting on my kitchen counter away from any windows. Could it be lack of sunlight? I have been following you for years and always look forward to your videos. I live in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and have had a small flowering cacti as a gift from a friend and is about 14 inches around. The pot it's in was getting too so snug so I thought I would re-pot it with the soil suggestions you gave in your video's. I haven't gotten around to doing that yet. At the beginning of summer here I put it outside on my south facing porch and it has flowered two times already. What a surprise to see the beautiful flowers it produces. Should I re-pot it or just leave it in the pot it's in. It has a lot of babies all around the outside edge of the plant. Suggestions? Thanks
@christinekobzeff
@christinekobzeff 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Linda! It sounds like you're doing a great job with your cactus. The sunlight and warmth lets them know it's time to flower and a south facing porch is perfect. Cactus enjoy being a little bit root-bound in small pots but if it's getting too tight or if your cactus has filled out the top part of the pot, it's ready to be re-potted into the next size up. Be on the lookout for upcoming cactus videos on repotting, cactus soil recipes and care. I'll have those coming out really soon. 🌵

Do you know what type of insects, are they crawling or flying? Some common house plant pests are fungus gnats, spider mites, scale (you can treat with a neem oil spray or if it's a really bad infestation you could use systemic granules), mealy bugs (I use alcohol and clean them off the plant with a q-tip). I can do a more in depth video on pests if that would help. 🌱
