That whole section where Sully is looking through the window, watching the compacter over and over, from side to side and top to bottom... Writhing in panic and sick at the compacter pounding her little body. The whole scene was so reminiscent of a favorite LooneyToons cartoon. Marc Antony writhing and sobbing at what happened to his kitten in the kitchen. The only thing missing would be Sully being given a kiien shaped cookie to dejectedly put on his back, and in despair lay down and cry with his "Boo cookie" Gets me every time.

Wahoo! I get to talk about the CDA code: 2319 is actually more clever than you think. The 23rd letter of the alphabet is W, and the 19th is S. Together, the code is code WS. What is the most common thing that gets brought back into the monster world? A white sock. 2319 is code for white sock. Just a theory, you say? Then let me offer up the other one that gets overlooked, from the CDA restaurant scene: 7835 = GHCE = Girl human child escaped Still not convinced? Here's the ones found in Monsters at Work: 1320 = MT = Monster trapped 418 = DR = Damaged room 42216 = DVP = Door Vault paperwork 1994 = SID = Shut it down One more in Monsters University: 5423 = EDBC= Exploded Door By Can

Monsters University is a great prequel. You should check it out.
@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy
@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy 2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, the whole 'scaring' aspect in it is going to seem rather pointless after having seen this first (namely the ending). If you're coming to a franchise that wasn't released in chronological order after the fact, *always* watch the prequel(s) first so as to not spoil other story aspects from the other movies (Star Wars notwithstanding; the best thing to do is to alternate between both trilogies as Dillon thankfully did -- though I wish he'd also watched II before V).
@appleglassjuice11
@appleglassjuice11 2 жыл бұрын
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy Wtf, no. Monsters University is MEANT to be seen after first. The movie is made so that you already know what has happened later on. Comparing this to the Star Wars prequel is really ridiculous, the story is completely different and is more impactful once we know what happens afterwards.
@appleglassjuice11
@appleglassjuice11 2 жыл бұрын
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy Also not every prequel in a movie should be watched first. Not every movie is the same nor do they do as well in chronological order.
@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy
@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy 2 жыл бұрын
@@appleglassjuice11 But if you already know certain aspects of a story, it often makes one less invested (consciously or not), such is human nature. I mean, already knowing that scaring is not nearly as effective for generating energy as laughter makes Mike and Sully's college pursuits in "University" feel kind of all for naught; it's better to go into "Inc." having no idea that that's the case, IMO. There was no grand artistic scheme for withholding the story in "University" from us; that's just how it happened. Why do 'release order fundamentalists' act as if that's the case? How many books do you _not_ start from the very beginning? Those of us who saw these movies as they came out didn't have a choice in the matter, but those coming to these well after their theatrical releases DO have one, so let them have it without imposing it on them.
@appleglassjuice11
@appleglassjuice11 2 жыл бұрын
@@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy I wouldn't go as far to say that its "human nature" to not be interested in a part of a story that was already brought up. Stories in general are subjective, having things in order is overdone and unoriginal, personally (and that's not a bad thing either). If a story is good enough, not knowing what happened first can be done in a really good way. That's what Monster University has done. If you wanna watch movies/stories that way, go ahead, but I wouldn't suggest anyone do that, specially for this series.

Interesting commentary at the end. Reminds me a bit of watching Mary Poppins as a kid vs as an adult, when the messages about the power of laughter etc. resonated with me more. Also like you said you do have to remember there are jerks as well as decent and even heroic people (or “monsters”) out there. While everyone is complicated, and most aren’t so extremely evil, it’s frustrating how most people either claim no one is truly malicious or ill-intended OR that people are evil only if they belong to a certain demographic. Which are both just denying reality.

@@barbicel Even so, what's wrong with actually seeing Mike and Sully's relationship _from the beginning??_ Then you're still just as surprised with the events in "Inc.," only now you go into it with some frame of reference for the universe (whereas, again, you go into "University" already knowing certain stuff). @@ComeOnIsSuchAJoy Well thats different. Youre comparing a book to a sequel that was made as a "prequel". In the first movie they mentioned Sully and Mike knowing eachother since the 4th grade, but in the second movie they actually meet in college. Idk. Maybe because its me, I enjoyed the second movie best because it focused on the characters journey, development, friendship, their emotional problems and stuff rather than the whole: Lets win this college race thing main plot. Because I enjoyed the characters. I think this youtuber will enjoy the second movie just as much. I mean he caught on on the Laugther is the best energy source super quickly, and enjoyed the emotional aspects of the characters more. Maybe it dependes on the person??? Cuz the second movie I wasnt bothered by the screaming powersource plotline cuz I was more focused on the characters story arc lol.

@@barbicel It's the same principal, though; you're not starting at the very beginning. Yeah, if you follow books/movies as they come out, you don't have a choice in the matter... but anyone coming to them years after the fact (like Dillon here) DO have a choice. You were probably bothered by the scaring plotline because, as I first brought up, you subconsciously already knew this was a pointless pursuit because you learned at the end of "Inc." that laughter was a far more effective means of generating energy than screams. That's the disadvantage we had going into this -- one anyone going into this now can easily avoid by starting with "University." And the '4th grade' comment could easily be interpreted as a facetious quip by Mike.
