The defence building can actually start at level 2 for the main settlement, this differs per faction. Vamps and tomb kings for example can build walls at level 2, and i think with what we saw here the lizards can as well.

To think I was going to ask you to start a new skaven campaign! I was going to ask for tretch or thrott, my favorite- best skaven but lord skrolk is pretty fun if you want a challenge with the rat kin. I wish skrolk had his own pox cauldron effect with custom skaven plagues to tinker with.

He does have a Throt campaign already done for IE recently if you want to check it out. Also there is a cool mod that gives Skrolk the plague cauldron if you haven't seen it before.

Even without SFO, isn't there a Skaven mod called Skaven Clans that heavily modifies the Skaven?

There are some great mods right in the workshop for the various skaven clans that dont require SFO (i hate SFO) ... but Pestilens has one that gives them the nurgle plague cauldron mechanic which makes them much more viable but also much more fun... I play exclusively skaven and play exclusively with mods to their food economy, and each factions mechanics ... makes every skaven faction significantly more fun.

Sending a hero to make a Undercity in the chaos Dawi capital, make sure to use the sea lane to the west of you to make it a significantly faster trip. Wouldn’t want to waste a stupid amount of turns going the long and wrong way.

@@MonstersAbound I try to help bring up those I think I can teach. I do believe the way to the chaos Dawi is shorter if you take the western sea lane then follow that up with the sea lane to the south of the exit lane in Cathay waters. You should arrive at the elven colonies a minor faction to the south of Ku’gath. Sail up meeting your plague brother and continue until you reach the Capital of the Dawi Zhar. I be a avid enjoyer of the coast faction, sea lanes be something I know well, sailing world wide over.

I believe Queek is a Lord of Decay, but he's the only one who fights on the front line, and I think he's one of the few with black fur. (Most of the council are greyseers)

Are Skaven a type of beastmen or something else?

They are their own species. Though they do have some ties to chaos given their love of warp stone and the fact that they don’t seem to appear until a good bit after the great cataclysm. Most common thing I’ve heard is that warp and chaotic energies from the cataclysm mutated them to be what they are today. So definitely more in line with chaos and the Beastmen but they haven’t made any strict alliances or long term deals with the dark gods it’s more so they will work with them because their goals often align. But they will also certainly fight them if they don’t. Hell Pit has fought off numerous chaos incursions over the years which you see a bit of in the ghoritch quest battle.
