Monstrum Mount and Shell Carrier for Mossberg 88 Security Install and Review 2024

Here I'm installing a product by Monstrum. It's a mount and carrier that goes on top of the shotgun.

you might consider adding a bit of thread locker compound to the flat head screw in the breech to help against the screw backing out and potentially causing a Jam

Suggest Loctite BLUE. Thread locker products have different strengths. Some are made for permanent installs whereas others hold but allow for future removal of screws. For reference, Google search "Loctite thread locker colors"

I'm gonna buy this same one. My plan is to use some rags or something thing to go in between the gun and the rail system. Hope it helps keep it from getting scratched up.

I took a risk on my first Monstrum product, and its a winner. It's solid material and holds the shells tightly. I was going to put a red sot on it, but I got a surprise when I was zeroing a laser with this on my Maverick. It's elevated so you can aim under it without a dot, cowitness. Looking down that tunnel and seeing my bead, I realized I dont need a red dot. The focus that tunnel provides is excellent.

Good video IMHO Try the first 2 shells with brass up. For home defense,hunting, camping, gun case/safe storage Speed load combat/tactical load. Finger off trigger/on safe. With your firing hand Grab both shells by the brass, turn the shotgun left with chamber open / up and drop first shell in push pump forward (donot pull the pump back unless in immediate danger. Easier to unload and safety reasons ) Drop your next shell in set into magazine. No fumbling in the dark, on the move, eye on surroundings and potential target. 2 shells in and you’re ready. You can shoulder stock the weapon or put the stock into hip. It will take practice with dummy shells. Practice it 18x and it becomes a habit. 19 is to much 17 is not enough! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Good luck with your Mav. God bless

The screws that they sent with mine don’t fit the threads for the replacement longer breach screw. No one else had that problem? The factory screw on mine is a coarser thread than the ones that came with mine.

I just ordered this mount a few days ago on Amazon. It’ll be here today so thanks for the Tutorial. With this Shotty I could care less about Scratches dings or Dents on a 200dollhair 12g But maybe I’ll live it up well before sliding the Mount over the receiver. I Deff am gonna use a drop or 2 of Semi Permanent LockTight for ShitzNGigz

Great video how does the rail sit on the top? Is it centered with the barrel and stock?

Thanks! Yes, the rail sits perfectly center to the barrel. After a few trips to the range, nothing seems to be coming loose.

I just bought one. It's perfectly centered above the barrel. Looking thru the tunnel created by the mount and centering the bead in that window made me realized I don't even need an RDS

Yes theres a space under the rail that allows you to see through and aim down sights properly

Nope, not at all. I've shot over 50 rounds through it and everything is still functioning as it should.

The 88 I had tended to rust fairly easily, so I paint them now Scratches smatches

Gaffers tape. It's super thin but strong and shouldn't leave residue. Will make the mount more snug too..

I believe its an Uncle Mikes 12 Gauge Shell holder. I bought it at a gun show a not too long ago.

Yes, it's raised up. I decided to skip mounting the RDS because the tunnel I'm looking down under the unit provides a perfect sight picture, centering the bead thru that is like using a red dot.

You didn’t add tape brother!? Glad you reminded me to add tape when I put mine on but if you knew that at the time you shoulda used tape brother I used some special type of tape made just for stuff like this But I mean you wouldn’t need any special kind of tape… just use electrical tape even and that should help prevent any scratches Shiii use scotch tape if that’s all you got or painters tape, just anything sticky in your house basically lmao And if you absolutely can’t find anything sticky… they even put stickers on stuff like chew tobacco cans and stuff you should be able to find atleast something But if you absolutely can’t find nothing then just use a decent amount of Vaseline I used good tape and I still used Vaseline… plus it’ll make so much easier sense it’ll slide on alote easier, no Vaseline then idk use lotion or soap man Jesus Christ I ain’t your father use whatever the hell you got and thank if substitutes yourself
