I have been flying drones for years now. everything from $30 toys, $1000 photography drones, and custom built race drones. propellers are so fragile on these drones. the slightest imbalance in a propeller with cause vibrations that can throw off all the onboard censors. so even though these skynet rounds are slow and do little damage. a string cought in one of the motors can slow the propeller enough to crash the drone. the purpose of these round wouldn't be to destroy the drone, just disable it. the range of these rounds is way to short to really be practical but I believe these to be very effective at doing their intended purpose.
@taofledermaus7 жыл бұрын
It seems highly unlikely a quadcopter is going to get close enough (25 yards) to you that you'd hit them with these Skynet rounds. Even if the drone is hovering 30 or 40 yards away you'd have to take many shots before you got lucky and hit it.

This is absolutely wrong, you can hit the drone, as long as the arm does not brake off the motors stops spinning or the prop doesn´t breaks it keeps flying. It´s mostly plastic housing, hitting the electronic is super difficult, only if you get lucky. The drone itself is tiny, thus the tring to cath in the props and bring it down.

Crossing your property in the air is one thing. Most people won't object to that, and if you are talking about an airplane, it's a moot point anyway. What people are objecting to, and rightfully so, are the "spy" drones. Flying over someone's property slowly and with camera running. The first case I was aware of was a father who shot down a drone with a shotgun. The drone was spying on his daughter who was sunbathing in the backyard. Full privacy fencing, etc. No question but that it was an attempt to get illicit pictures. The owners complained to the police that someone shot their drone. The father met the police in his driveway and told them the drone was trespassing. Long story short, the drone owners got in trouble, but they were trying to spin things the other way.

Say that they are spying with it & it is a security issue, you want to recover that drone & find what data you can salvage from it. Blowing it into smithereens will destroy the unit completely. Recovering it intact might provide useful information such as finger prints & possibly video they were attempting to gather. And to answer your question we still have rights but the way our country witch I love and would die for our rights are being stripped away or trying to be stipped away on a daily basis. Our 2nd and 4th amendments are under attack. Mainly cause this new generation is a bunch off pussys. Aside from a few who actually care and do something. Is it supposed to be doing catastrophic damage or just entangling the rotors and dropping the drone by de-powering it on one or more arms? When I used to clear brush in south Texas, I was sometimes confronted with angry wasps. Wasp spray was a joke trying to lead and hit those buggers whipping around you and you ended up still getting stung. I ran out one day and on the way to the field the next day I stopped for fuel and the only thing they had was a Scott's yard fogger, so I grabbed one thinking it was "better than nothing." Sure enough I hit a Juisach with a big nest in it and literally four or five blasts from the yard fogger dropped every wasp instantly. It turned our the yard fogger came out as a wide dispensing foam mist and it just stuck to the wasp's wings as it flew through the cloud dropping it instantly. I never got stung again and carried it religiously. So, the question I have, is is this intended to destroy or merely disable, and for that your static test would not test or reveal.

I think that the point of this shoot is working differently from what you tested them... Might be, that you need to make contact with drone only with those strings to snare and not damage it at longer ranges where that shot travels slower - like throwing a net over it. Maybe the short range was countering the effect. But it was fun to watch as always TAO crew 😎

The cops came out when we managed to hit one of them with said rocket.) (icidentally, two servos and extra balsa fins at the front of an Alpha II makes for a helluva time...)

@IRONHEAD127016 жыл бұрын
KLR650nKY 3 1/2 mag is still good for 75 yds (225ft.) after that a good scope will work.
@klr650nky86 жыл бұрын
And learning to lead the target is still a big part of the equation. Not too many can hit something on the move consistently, without proper practice... And drones can legally fly up to 133 yards (400 feet); a long shot to take geese legally with the 3 1/2 mag is about 75 to 80 yards, and some idiots do try to take them as far away as 95 yards since they can't learn how to camo the blind or get the decoys to work better.. So still not enough to reach most of them, and again learning to lead that small moving target at altitude, still have little chance of shooting it down. even with a scope and a high power rifle, have you done much shooting at those ranges, fighting gravity and every other environmental factor that would be fighting you? I doubt it. And hopefully you don't get caught since most drones have air to ground video feeds and the location of your shot will be pretty close to where the drone may drop out of the sky... Do you really want the FAA coming after you over something as silly as shooting an aircraft down? Talk about domestic terrorism...
@GordieGii5 жыл бұрын
That "little piece of string" would have wrapped around the prop and severely impaired the drones ability to fly. It doesn't necessarily need to damage the drone through inertia, just tangle the props. One tactic I've heard of is a shell full of twist ties. I also thought a shell full of micro bolas might work. Any way to maximize the chances of tangling a prop.
