www.MoreGems.com -- We headed to Montana to dig for fine Sapphire rough gemstones at the Eldorado Bar with Blaze Wharton of Blaze-N-Gems! Steve, Michael, & Jeff Moriarty found some great material and had a blast searching for these beautifully colored sapphires. They got some great faceting material which you'll see in the video, as well as the first gem that lapidary, Steve Moriarty, cut from it.

I enjoyed your video. It was educational to me as I had never mined for sapphires. Now I'm inspired to start my mining on my property.

The only problem with these kinds of places is the fact that they dig the dirt and they keep all the big sapphires, while selling you the tiny ones that aren't worth much! Your best bet is to try to find mines that allow you to dig for your own, so that way you have a better chance of finding bigger sapphires! However those kinds of places are harder to find because they make more money selling you buckets that have already been sifted through! 👎👎👎👎 I live in Montana and so I will give any of you that are interested in looking for Garnets, there's a little town in Southwest Montana called Alder, Montana and there is a little store there and if you ask where the Ruby reservoir is, they will direct you to it and you can look for Garnets for free for as long as you want! Most of them will be small but there have been some found that were up to a couple of Karat's in size! 👍

Made with HARPA AI

At 8:22, some rocks of amazing colors, white , red, purple -mauve , and ledged gray stone below tweezers, and those lime stones and so much more, hard believing they don't have a value . Perhaps a .... AQUARIUM stones[fish-reptilc etc ] .....or a RING or jem of sorts, because they're Wow , rare eye catching stones. From somebody who's admired stones, rocks their life long .

is this open to the public? I’m from montana and my Grandpa passed away last month, He was from Arkansas. his favorite thing to do when he visited Montana was to go sapphire mining and we’d do that as a family. I’d love to come here to mine and spread his ashes.

Hi Emily, contact Blaze-N-Gems. They will let you know whether you can come out to the mine to dig. Otherwise, there is also the Spokane Bar Sapphire mine that is near by, too. I would reach out to both them and they will give you a better idea. They are both good places to go near Helena, Montana.

I enjoyed watching your video. Years ago I dug up a 9ct. purpleish in one light. Greenish in another. It cut out to be over 4ct. Portuguese cut. Approximately 5/16 square across the girdle. beautiful stone. Wish I could share a picture of it with you. I would love to know how much it's really worth

4 C's apply here. Color: Instead of just one color, you must go by both! When it's purple, which shade is it? Medium, or dark? When it changes over to green, what shade of green? More teal? Are both colors even, throughout? Take a 10X magnifying glass to it. I have one with a light, too. Clarity: all natural stones will have inclusions, don't be concerned. You need to find them. Look at the percentage, vs stone. If you only see a few silks, then that's great. Cut: How good is it? I cut color stones at a different angle than clear, for you want the color brought up through the crown! Diamonds, except fancy, cut for sparkle. Carat: you said a bit over 4. 4.25? 4.5? All of the above combined, will affect the value. Because of the rarity of this particular color change - yes, I had to look it up, only found in 2 areas. If it's weak on everything, it would be worth less, per carat. If it's perfection, then it's $1000s per carat. This is why it's best to have an appraisal done in front of your face! DON'T EVER LEAVE THIS RING TO BE CLEANED!! She needs but only a new toothbrush, (I use children's toothbrushes), and a touch of dish soap!! Nothing ever, never, more! If she needs to remove it at work, I'd suggest she wear a necklace that she can hang it on. Don't put it in your pockets, nor a purse! I'm ever so thankful for women who caught me, returned my rings! That's all I can suggest, Brian. Best to the both of you!

I’ve never had any luck finding anything on blaze’s mine. It was so bad I felt like we had been taken advantage of. So we promised that we never would go back there ever again 🤷‍♂️ All of the other mines were above and beyond honest and transparent. He watched us to see if we knew anything about mining by feeling us out with lingo about high grading other peoples claims and when we didn’t say anything about high grading another person mine he knew that we were new. So we never got to see a virgin pay layer he tossed a garnet on a pile of rocks and said to dig there 🤷‍♂️ He will take advantage of you if he believes he can…

Steve, I’m looking for someone who may be able to repair my star sapphire. I’m in Texas & knocked a piece of my sapphire out. It’s a blue oval genuine Lindy Star sapphire. I had it made but my gemologist has passed. Any advice would be great. I enjoy your shows. Thanks.

@joseywilds3133 I’ve found plenty of decent sapphires in their bags. Unfortunately, like mining in real life, it’s a gamble. You’re not guaranteed a 10 carat cutter every time.
